My DS6 (almost 7) is a huge Weird Al fan. He has been walking around singing "Amish Paradise" nonstop! He will be coming to Atlantic City in June and my son would love to see him. Has anyone ever seen Weird Al live and would it be age appropriate for a child?

I saw Al in concert 8-9 years ago. It was a lot of fun. Al wears costumes based on his songs. He does imitate the artists who he spoofs. I think it would be age appropriate. Since it is a concert it will be loud so remember ear plugs. Have fun!:thumbsup2

P. S. I suggest looking up either concert footage or his videos to get an idea of what to expect.

I saw Weird Al a few years ago. It was one of the best concerts ever! That man is just amazing. There were many young kids in the audience. A few crude moments but overall extremely entertaining.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to see if he will be in our area, I would love to see him again. :)

I LOVE Weird Al! I've seem him twice, he's great live. He's got a few jokes/gags that aren't "child friendly" per say (nothing bad I promise) but they'll probably go over most kids heads anyways. I say go and take your son, you'll both have a blast!

My nephew (now twenty) started seeing Wierd Al when he was about the same age as your nephew. Perfectly age-appropriate - and hilarious.

We've seen him numerous times in concert and we cannot remember anything that would be bad for a kid to see. My DH even recalls seeing kids at the concert the last time we went, so I'd say go for it. He really is amazing to see in concert and really has given one of the best over all shows I've ever seen.

I agree with everyone else. He's great in concert, and I can't think of anything that doesn't make him kid-friendly.

Thank you to all! I'm going to buy the tickets tomorrow. My son will be so excited!

Just introduced my DS12 to Weird Al a few months ago. He loves Like A Surgeon, Yoda, Eat It, I'm Fat and The Saga Begins. Even my DS9 likes listening to him.

That's funny you mention Weird Al. I was sick in bed all last week, and on one day I spent over an hour watching Weird Al videos on Youtube :happytv:. (I actually have his ebay song on my playlist for running.) I went to a concert with my brothers and sisters years ago, and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!! I think your son will have a blast. Have a great time.

ETA: He's probably too young (it was PG-13 w/o sex, violence, drugs, bad language--just blood and flying poodles), but have you ever seen the movie "UHF"? Vintage Al. I guess that's one of the reasons I could never get into "Seinfeld" because whenever I saw Kramer, all I could think of was Stanley Spadowski and his mop.

I have seen Wierd Al 3 times live. Last time we took older DS. He was 7 at the time and he loved it. Only suggestion is to take ear plugs. My Ds enjoyed it more with the earplugs to buffer the sound.

Al puts on a great show. He does all his major songs. Bits and pieces if not the whole song. The polkas are my favorite.

My kids love playing The Saga Begins (Star Wars song). It would be great to see Weird Al live!!!

We went to see Weird Al about 3 years ago. DH was apprehensive, it really was not his "thing".

Well, we all loved it. Weird Al is really talented, his band was great, and he is not afraid to be a nerd.

The show was no worse than PG-13, at most.

Took the wife and kids to see Weird Al two years ago in Harrisburg. GREAT show - LOTS of fun, and totally family-friendly.

Thank you to all! I'm going to buy the tickets tomorrow. My son will be so excited!

How fun. My kids also love Weird Al. I think he makes it a point to be family friendly so I am anxious to hear how it goes.

It was probably 1998 when I saw him but it was a great show. He goes offstage to do a lot of song-specific costume changes and they played a bunch of short videos that were really good. I remember one that was making fun of all the volcano, earthquake, tornado movies at the time called "60% chance of rain".

you can also get a lot of his stuff at his website

(yeah, I know, Duhhh)

I have a bunch of his music and videos but every time he was nearby for a concert, I couldn't take the time! DARN!!!
