I think I'll keep looking. I want a nice, lazy dog. She's beautiful, though.

They are natural hunters, but they aren't "known" to kill housecats. If they're raised with cats from puppyhood, there'll be no problems. They do like to get bunnies, rats, squirrels, birds, and whatever else wanders into the yard, though.
They are very dominant, so they need a strong owner. They're super smart, too. But boy are they loyal and loving. Such great dogs! I also think they're some of the cutest puppies out there!
They are still the game hunter and some Weims have a low tolerance for small fur bearing animals including cats and small dogs. Changing this behavior again changes the basic temperament of the dog.
Very brave and loyal, it has a strong prey instinct. Do not trust with small non-canine animals.
Can you live with the consequences of a Weimaraner's high prey drive? Weims can and do kill small fuzzy critters. If that happens can you live with it? That is the one single question you must answer, and do it honestly. Weims can sometimes live successfully with cats and other small animals; however, if the worst happens will it cause you to want to get rid of the dog? If the answer is yes, then you should NOT get a Weimaraner -- period.
We had one when I was in high school who offed 2 neighborhood cats that had the audacity to come in to her yard.
I know they're avid hunters. But we've had 7 others that have peacefully co-existed with cats. Our "killer" was a feisty girl who had never been raised around cats. I loved her dearly, but she was a tough cookie! LOL!
And my sister has a cat along with her Weimeraner boy.
Sticks don't stand a chance with her either, here is her daily collection![]()
