Anyone on WW when they cruised? I have been on it for 6 months and have been very successful. :Pinkbounc
I don't want to blow it in 3 days on the ship. :guilty:
Sailing the Wonder, Sept 1st.
Also losing my mind that I will forget to do something, or bring something. the excitement is almost overwhelming. First Disney Cruise with kids.
I will also try to help if anyone has questions about WW.
Thanks

I was on WW...the first time I cruised...(Last year) and totally blew it. But I went with the idea that I was on vacation...and I wasn't going to count points. I didn't over indulge...but if I wanted to order dessert after having my appitizer and entree...I did it. In the end I gained a few pounds...which I didn't think was to bad. We also tryed to take the stairs most of the time...for one it was faster and for two...it helped burn off some of the extra calories.

The worst part of the whole deal for me...was once we got back...I fell into a rut and still haven't been able to get myself back into the mode of counting and keeping track....and attending meetings. :confused3

I have to say that I was doing VERY well on WW and found it to be both easy and satsifying...that's why I can't see why I'm having such a hard time getting back into it.

Overall if you want to stick to the plan...it's not going to be that hard. They offer healthy meals and healthy snacks. I just found it hard to order that plain chicken breast and steamed vegies...when they have so many other things available.

Good luck.

I was on a 7 night and actually lost a couple of pounds while on the cruise. Limited alcoholic beverages. Walked the decks. Always took the stairs (of course it helped that the beverage station was on deck 9, and my room was on deck 2). :goodvibes I also stayed clear of the rolls at dinner, only ate a portion of my entree, and ordered dessert but only tried a few bites (I didn't eat the entire dessert). I never felt deprived in any way, and always felt full after meals. Really, I even ate a chocolate souffle in Palo. Honest, the ice cream is just soft serve ice cream (not to get flamed here, but if you've had soft serve ice cream before... the stuff on DCL tastes the same). Try not to get hung up on worrying about "blowing it." You've been successful for 6 months, 3 days will not "undo" 6 months of perseverance. :cheer2:

You will be fine-just remember to eat in moderation. You are on vacation and if you are feeling really guilty about something just go up to the gym or walk around the ship a few times. Drink a couple of glasses of water before eating. The most important thing is to have a good time and just enjoy the days you are on vacation!! :goodvibes

Hello! I have been on WW for 3 years although we all can add or drop a few pounds one thing that has always helped me is make sure you drink your water, smell lots of things (instead of tasting everything) and have a few bites of the things you MUST have (don't eat it all) but most importantly BRING YOUR OWN SNACKS. If nothing else do this. In the end even if you gain lets say 2 pounds or so...it would have been more if you had succumbed to all of the other temptations! The 100 calorie packs are a big hit for me. Fast, easy and don't take alot of room!

Go in with a positive attuitude. If you gain a few pounds THATS OK! Just think if you had never joined WW how much more it would or could have been! I always think even when I am at my worst that if I had never been on WW it would have been 10X worse (for example just drinking water can save lots of points and I do this all the time even when I am pigging out!)

On buffets make sure to eat LOTS of fruit, have egg substitutes and limit the rest. Get a small plate too and fill it up, it will make you feel like you have eaten more then you have! Still eat some of the goodies but just have a few bites to get the taste and thats that. Bring I Can't Believe its not butter spray in stead of using the real stuff!

When eating dinner ..if it helps cut your meal in half and send the rest back so you don't over eat! Pace yourself too. Drink lots of water during meals and every few minutes stop and think, am I satisifed?! Just don't over eat!

What else...what else... TELL YOUR SEVER AHEAD OF TIME that you are on WW and like dishes looked low fat and without lots of oil and butter. This will help with the limitations too! I hear they make alot of sugar free desserts for those with special diet restrictions.

Bring some candy with you! Crystal Light makes great little hard candies and 4 are 1 pt. Chew lots of gum too! When in doubt drink your water! Lots of times when we think we are hungry we are really thirst.

Watch your salt intake! Rememeber salt retains water which adds more to the scale!

Bring "Skinny pictures of yourself" or hang up that pair of shorts you really want to fit into in your room as a constant reminder that WW is a way of life and not something you want to loose sight of.

YOU CAN DO THIS! Feel free to email me with anything else. I have been on the program for so long I am happy to "share my wisdom!"

I had also been successful on the WW plan right up until my 4nt Disney cruise, and park trip in 12/03. I didn't count points, or worry about any of it. And just like Scrapperjill, I have had the hardest time getting motivated again. I have rejoined WW so many times since then I can not even count! I did continue to go to the meetings (we have great meetings!), but would not follow the program. It was so depressing. I just rejoined WW about 3 weeks ago, and overall I had regained 30 lbs that I had lost before the cruise! :guilty: I'm still not very motivated this time either, but I just found out that I have high triglycerides. I have an appointment with a specialist, and from what I've read on the internet, I will probably have to follow a diabetic diet for the rest of my life! :sad1: When I was pregnant, I followed the diet, and it was so hard, because I am a SWEETS girl!! :mickeybar (I even used to own a Sweet Shoppe! :teeth: ) My WW leader said that I can still follow the Points plan even if I'm on the diabetic diet. I do know that I can not lose weight if I am not going to WW, for the support & accountability.

Sorry to get off track, but I just hope you do try to make some sensible choices while you are cruising. Because, it is not always easy to jump right back into dieting habits.

Scrapperjill, if you see me eating Mickey bars every day on our cruise, just throw something at me! :duck:

Remember your exercise points! I try to exercis 5 times a week but don't "count" the exercise points. In addition to the great ideas already posted, take advantage of deck four if you like to walk or run and go for the more active excursions. Try to drink as much water as you can. I like to limit non water beverages to meals only

Bad news first..

I was on WW when we first cruised in 2002, and had done very well. The temptation was overwhelming just at the Topsider's lunch buffet after check-in. I had thrown in the towel by dinnertime. :guilty:

When we arrived home one week later, I'd gained 5 lbs. :scared1: :faint:

Now the good news..

The 5 lbs. I gained were lost again 3 weeks later. I just went back OP and the 'temporary gain' was lost faster than the 'original' weight when I began.

Also, you're only on a 3-day, so any gain you're worried about will be very little. :earsgirl:

I agree with MickeyHugger. The weight will come back off if you don't follow everything exactly but get on plan when you get back. I cruised for 7 days in May on RCCL. I ate sensibly but still enjoyed the food (desserts and appetizers too). I also exercised everyday in the gym or walking the decks and I used the steps everyday (it really was faster to do that anyway). When I got back, I had gained 5 pounds and within a week or two of being back, pretty much all of it was gone. Good luck and have fun! :sunny:

While I'm not on WW now, I can say that I can be counted in the leagues of many who were very successful while on Program. Of course, as we all know, perseverance is the key.

I will share with you a gem passed by one of my favorite leaders, which is: "Walk it through the garden." Before you think I've gone "Adam and Eve" on you, she meant to pick entrees that have a large veggie/fruit component. I followed her advice on several trips (business and pleasure) and always managed to return at the same weight or a little bit less.

Enjoy your cruise! :Pinkbounc

Wow! Thanks for all the support. I was thinking of taking my cereal bars with me, will definately do it. Planned on walking deck and doing stairs.
DH and I are walking 1 hour 4 nights a week.
I love ice cream, especially soft serve or hand dipped butter pecan. :goodvibes That will be my biggest challenge next to drinking enough water. I do great with H2O on work days, lousy on weekends.
I did a RCCL about 5 years ago, gained 8 pounds in 4 days. :confused3 I lived it up. And the weight kept coming back. (Had lost 30# before that cruise). Now I have lost 45#.
I have every intention of going back to the meeting after the cruise. Have WI the night before we catch the plane and day after we get back.
DH is very supportive, but not naggy. Constantly telling me how good I look. I am enjoying spending his $ on new clothes. Love it when he says "Those pants are too baggy, buy another pair."

Thanks again, I will keep checking back or PM me.

I lost 40 pounds on ww last aug to jan before seven day. If you had the will power to loose what you have alreasdy lost, it will be no problem when you get back from the cruise. The first day on the magic i was looking to count points. After we went to the buffet for lunch, i realized that it was not going to happen.

Just eat what you want a have a great time. You can worry about it when you get home.

The weight that i gained on the ship came off 4-6 weeks after i got home. :cool1:

Hi there,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on loosing your weight! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've been doing WW's for several years now. Just keep in mind that if you gain on vacation, especially if its only for 3 days you will loose this weight very fast if you get right back on track after getting home. When I go to Disney I don't diet. Most vacations I don't. Unfortunately I gained 10 pounds last month during a week in Vegas and 2 weeks in Disney. Then it took me a week to get back on track. If I had gotten back on track as soon as I left Disney, it would probably be gone by now. I only have 5 pounds to get back to where I was before I left. I look at my Disney or a Disney cruise vacation as a time when I should live a little.

I do know what its like though to get into that groove and not want to undo what you have done. I think you could easily do good on the cruise, but it will take lots of discipline on your part. Good luck!

Also, since your on WW's stop by the DIS Board WISH (We're Inspirted to Stay Healthy) Threads.

Does this mean if you do get a cat 3 room I can not come up for Chocolate Souffle??? I was really hoping for it. Gain the 8 pounds I bet you will lose it in a few days. :rotfl2:

I am staying at a certain weight. I figured I will gain about 5-10 lbs. I should lose the first 5 in one day, water weight. The other five should come off in a weeks time.

Charleen I am sending you pics in a minute. And I will confirm the room number with you. Heck I think I lost your room #. Will you resend. I am going nuts.
