Today, I start back on WW. I joined last fall and did OK for the short time I went. I have a bunch of their material so I am going to try it on my own--starting today!

I am planning on WDW in October and want to shed about 15 lbs. by then. (I'd like to lose between 20 and 25 total)

I am allowed 20 points a day and those can be used up rather quickly so what I here asking for is some ideas for breakfast.

I have never been a breakfast eater and when I do eat it, I like a breakfast like a character meal at WDW:eek:
I have been eating breakfast regularly for several years but choose to eat the wrong things (which is part of why I need to lose 20 lbs!)

So, help me if you will. I'm not a big fruit eater and don't like cottage cheese. I think I like everything else though...:p

TIA

When you have 20 points a day to work with (plus your 35 weekly FLEX points!), it's important to make sure that what you eat is nutritious.

I'd start by thinking about how you want to balance your points throughout the day (mostly on lunch? Dinner?)

With 20 points, I'd probably plan to distribute them something like this most days:

Breakfast - 4 points
Lunch - 6 points
Dinner - 8 points
Snack- 2 points

Breakfast for me is typically very light, ususally a small bowl of high fiber cereal with skim milk (2 pnts), and a small banana, lite yogurt, or strawberries (1-2 points)

Thanks KathyTX--yes! You are right--4 points for breakfast sounds right to me! That is NOT where I want to spend my points!! LOL

Here are my breakfast standards, and I try to keep breakfast to 4 or under:

1 C Total Cereal and 1 C skim milk-4
1 C Total Cereal and 1 C yogurt-4 (I crush the Total and pour it in the yogurt like granola...extremely filling)
4 pieces center cut bacon, nuked, on two pieces dry whole wheat (3 g fiber) bread or one piece toast with 1 tsp butter-4
Instant Quaker Oatmeal bakery favorites-3

20 points is so hard for me, I have been struggling since I got down to 20 pts but I try to exercise to give me at couple extra pts a day. For breakfast, I usually have 2pt oatmeal and an apple ( I cut the apple up and mix splenda and cinnamon and sprinkle it over the apple YUM) or the fat free waffles (Eggo Special K) aren't that bad with a little spray butter and blueberries. For a quick on-the-go breakfast I have a chewy granola bar.
But I am with you, I just got back from WDW and I would much rather eat breakfast at the castle then a stinkin' granola bar.

For breakfast, nothing stays with me longer than a slice of toast with a tablespoon of peanut butter for 3 points.

Im doing WW at home too.
I just cant see shelling out $40/month for it anymore.

Im trying really hard to stay on plan and part of that is posting and reading here more often.

You arent alone!

Good luck

I'm reminded of my old ww leader who said something like "breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper", meaning, eat a lot in the am, and smaller meals throughout the day.

Perhaps if you're a big breakfast eater, you should eat a big breakfast. There's nothing that says you should save your meals for dinner. Maybe you should try to turn the day around and see if you're more satisfied.

Another thing I have from time to time is 5 point french toast; butter spray on a non-stick pan, one scrambled egg (2), two pieces of 1 point bread (pepperidge farm 9 grain), 1 tbsp syrup (1).

Also, I find if I'm especially hungry in the am, a hard boiled egg, 2 pts, helps fill me up and whole oranges are supposed to be better than oj.

Finally, I should point out that my yogurts are 2 point fat free light aspartame sweetened jobs, and my bacon is 1/2 point per slice 30% less fat.

Oooh- the toast and peanut butter reminded me!

I love the Eggo Nutrigrain Whole Wheat Fat Free frozen waffles- 1 point each!

On a day when I'm running late, I'll pop two of them into the toaster, spray a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on them, smear 1-2 points worth of peanut butter on one, and PRESTO! I've got breakfast that I can eat in the car! :teeth:

I'm also doing WW at home after over 3 months on Atkins and only losing 6 lbs. WW seems to be the only thing that works for me (over and over). I had 2 eggs and 2 slices Canadian Bacon for 6 pts this morning. I have a low-blood sugar problem so I'm still trying to stay high-protein. I swear that eggs used to be 1 point but maybe I'm dreaming. I think a good breakfast has to hold you through till lunch or you're going to be struggling through the day.

Good luck!

20 pts?!?! Please tell me WW doesn't get lower than that! I had a hard time going from 24 to 22. And, I loom very near getting to 20 myself right now. Well anyway, I'll add my WW carb-junkie's point of view. ;) My breakfasts usually consist of 1/2 a bagel, or 1/2 an english muffin, with ICBINB spray. Sometimes, I add 1/2 C egg beaters, scrambled of course. I also sometimes add some 1/2 or 1 pt fruit. 1/2 banana, 1/2 apple, 1 C strawberries (w/splenda). Normally, nothing above 4 pts. total, not by design, just what I like to eat then. :p

Here's another tip I got from a fellow WW....START your point count with dinner, and go from there. Not sure if it works, it's kinda a plateau buster I guess. Again, not sure, just putting the idea out there.

I know it's not very nutrious, but nothing fills me up better than a bowl of dry Rice Chex and a large bottle of water in the morning. You get a cup and 3/4 for only 2 points. They also make a great mid-day snack. If you're looking for sheer quantity then Rice Chex are the way to go!

I got great advice on this thread! Thanks to everyone!

And KimRaye, don't worry, I think 20 is the lowest. Thank God above!

I can't wait to try some of these suggestions. That cereal crumbled into the yogurt sounded good to me. :p (I don't really even like yogurt LOL)

I had 2 of the Eggo FF waffles this morning.:)

I'm really not a breakfast person (but when I do eat it I like it WDW style:) ) so these quick and easy suggestions are great.
I will definitely be doing the peanut butter.
What I have to watch is that I eat the right thing that will take me through til lunch or else I get shaky. Hard to use the curling iron on someone's hair when your shaky.;)

Thank you everyone for helping me out!

Oh and Binny and DVCTiff, I need that $40 a month towards WDW, ya know? :teeth:
