Weight watchers online?

Has anyone done it? I don't think I would be able to drag myself to meetings each week especially with cold weather coming and my husbands work schedule and three kids in tow. But really want to lose 15 lbs, just to feel good. When I did a biggest loser contest in a previous life (when I worked) I did great but know I need accountability to make it happen! Would I get that online?

I don't know what the weight watchers site is like because I refuse to pay for support, but I have recently joined sparkpeople.com and it has most of the componants I know weight watchers is known for...and it's free! YOu can chart your exercise, your calories, your weigh ins, your measurements...it's very customizable. Plus it has teams, and message boards, and blogs, as well as useful articles and recipies.

I have used weight watchers online successfully. I lost 75lbs and have kept it off. I just rejoined to lose another 20 to get to my goal weight. I like that I don't have to keep track of actual fat and calories. Every food has a point value.
You do have to have good will power to stick to anything though. I find I am more accountable when I have to type everything that I eat and all my workouts. It is kinda like a game to get the most points for working out.

Another "sparker" here, I recommend it highly. Ive lost 60bs since Jan with the use of the that site! Its very easy to use, and the message boards are great when you need to ask questions or just want to chat with others in the same place as you. I also like that you are dealing with calories/fat/protein vs numbers, the info you need in the real world of eating healthy and avoiding the killers at restaraunts.

I loved WW online. I have an Iphone and it even had an app for that so while I was at the store or where ever I could log in my points.

I didn't lose much weight but I did like the tracking system.

Good luck!

I just rejoined today. They are running a special right now, no joining fee if you sign up for three months. It really is a great program and I think it is worth the money.

I signed up for sparkpeople a few months ago, but I like ww points system so much better. It just seems like a simpler aproach to me.

I've been thinking about joining again too but online. I don't have the time for meetings. Is weight watchers still the same as they were about 4 yrs ago. Counting points and all?

I've had success with WW in the past (when I was in middle school, actually), and last year I decided to join up again... online this time. It just didn't work for me. I know the program inside and out, the message boards are free, and I have a points calculator. Online just wasn't worth the cost to me. Besides, I found that what I really needed was the accountability of going to a meeting each week where someone else would see whether I lost or gained or stayed the same. I don't even stay for the meeting part sometime, but without checking in with someone, I easily fell off program.

This is a little ironic since I plan to attend my first meeting in a while tomorrow :rotfl:

I went to actual ww meetings. You also have access to the online. I didn't use the online much at all. I went to meetings for about 6 months, then I quit going to meetings and I just followed the plan myself and did weigh ins at home. I have the books, and even though they tend to tweak the program every year, I figured if it was working in the past it would get me through. I lost 105 lbs and am at the goal my dr set (which is within ww goal also)

I do WW online. I just restarted about a month ago but don't ask me about last week since I didn't log in my points.

I use my dd's ipod touch & easily log in my meals.

I've used it prev. and loved it.

I am going to start again in Oct when I have the money to join the website.

Closest meeting site is quite a distance so I was curious about the online program. Thanks for all the info.

I did both-- in-person meetings and then when I felt like I had the hang of it, switched to online. For me, online did not work. I felt less accountable when I didn't have to go stand on a scale in front of someone else once a week!

I also think that online is way overpriced for what it is. Yes it has an online points tracker, but unless everything you eat is pre-packed and ready-made, you'll still be figuring out the points values on your own and inputing them. The weight tracker graph you can easily make yourself, and a lot of the articles you can access without paying.

If you've got the self-discipline to make online work for you, then I think you'd be just as successful without paying the $ and doing it on your own.

I disagree. The online has TONS of foods in it's online tracker, all you have to do is find the food and put in the portion size and the points are figured out for you. It's a great site.
