Weight Watchers food finds?

Hello all! Over the last couple of years, I've gained about 30-35 lbs that I need to lose. I've tried doing it "on my own", but I'm the kind of person that needs some accountability with a weekly weigh in, etc. So, I have decided to join Weight Watchers, at the meeting this coming Saturday.

I was at the store today, and spent a few minutes browsing for points friendly food items. But, it's very time consuming to calculate and compare the points value for so many items, especially when my 2 year old DD is trying to help me.

Can we start a list here of points friendly food items? I know that fruits and most veggies are zero points, so I'm really referring to foods other than those.

I'll start the list, with some items I found today at Sam's Club:

*Sargento Light String Cheese Mozzarella (made with 2% milk) - 1 point
*Chobani 0% plain Greek yogurt - an entire cup is 3 points and has a ton of protein (this makes a great substitute for sour cream)
*Rose Canadian Bacon - I didn't buy this, but I think it was 3 slices for 2 points.
*Egg Beaters - 1 point per serving

Any more to add? If we get a nice list going in, it should make grocery shopping a lot easier for those of us doing WW.

Stuff from Fiber One (brownies, granola bars) - 2 PP

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...check out www.skinnytaste.com for some great recipes. Good luck!

If you like ice cream (I do) then the skinny cow stuff is good. Also a good sweet snack is rice krispies treats. We do a lot of cooking with eggplant an mushrooms - very filling and satisfying but no calories of course. Popcorn is also a good snack so long as its not buttered.

Recipes: www.laaloosh.com & www.dashingdish.com ETA: I've done the Buffalo Chicken Bites & the Baked Ranch Chicken from laaloosh.com and both were awesome)
Pirate's Booty = 2 points (individual packs from Sam's Club)
Dunkin Donuts Ham Egg & Cheese Wake Up Wrap= 5pt breakfast
Swiss Miss Chocolate Pudding Pops- 2pts (found at Sam's Club)

Oh yeah! Another vote for Skinny Cow...the sandwiches are 4 PP.

Great suggestions everyone, keep 'em coming!

Another one is the big 13 oz. can of chicken breast at Sam's Club. I think the brand name is Member's Mark. It's only 1 point per serving, so the ENTIRE can is only 5 points.

Anymore to share?

I'm hoping to get a good recommendation for bread. There are a gazillion types at the grocery store, and I'm dreading the thought of checking the points value on so many until I find a good one.

Weight Watchers wheat bread is 2 points for 2 slices. That's the best I've found. We use wraps sometimes too and I was able to find some for 2 points as well.

I've been following WW faithfully since 01/02/2008, but I never converted to Points Plus, so I can't really state Points for particular items... but I will tell you what some of my favorites are....

Blue Diamond Almond Breeze almond milk... unsweetened vanilla... half the (old) Points of 1% dairy milk.

Vitamuffins.... YUM! (but expensive)

Laughing Cow light cheese wedges (just watch out... the newer sweet ones are significantly more fat, but just 10 more calories). Favorite flavors are the original swiss and french onion.

Joseph's flax and oat bran pita pockets (come in two sizes) and tortillas. High fiber and lowfat and low cal. Very thin though.

Egg whites (I don't bother with Egg Beaters. Don't feel like I need the added ingredients to make them yellow.) If I can't find organic egg whites in a carton, I just use regular organic eggs. In the winter I cook the yolks (separately) and feed them to the birds.

Paul Newman's Light organic dressing.... my favorite is the balsamic vinagrette, but I also like the sesame ginger and the cranberry walnut.

Bolthouse Farms creamy blue cheese yogurt dressing. I mix it with salsa for a great creamy salad dressing!

Baby Spinach.... salads, sandwich toppings, in egg white omelets, in grilled sandwiches/paninis/wraps/quesidillas, chopped on top of tacos.... I eat it every day.

Fat-free refried beans.... I use them to bulk up casseroles and stews.... great in meatloaf, chili, and taco meat. And I just love them by themselves... they make a great warm and creamy side dish. I also make a low-cal mexican pizza with them.... spread on top of a lightly toasted flax seed pita pocket. Top with one serving of lowfat shredded cheddar and broil until cheese is melted. Serve in wedges like a pizza with salsa for dipping!

Wholly guacamole 100 calorie packs.... great on eggs, sandwiches, and salads. Built in portion control and you don't have to worry about the guacamole turning brown after it is opened. I also love an opened face sandwich.... toast a flax seed pita, top with guacamole and a large slice of fresh beefsteak tomato (fresh and warm from the garden is best). Enjoy!

Those are the things that came to mind first.....................HTH..........P

I use Fage 0% greek yogurt; a big tub from Costco is under $5. Serious bargain. One of them, either Fage or Chobani, has a higher protein content than the other, FYI

For me, it's been mostly about portion control, as I hate most "diet-y" foods. So I gave up bread for awhile until I could control myself with it, and now I'll have a slice of REAL bread instead of several, and instead of despising the 1 point slice of dry small bread I can get.

I have one suggestion: a good food scale. I got an OXO scale from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It has a high weight limit, so I can use my big Fiestaware plate on it and not max it out. Also the front panel comes off so I don't have to peer under that plate and try to figure out what it says. I weigh almost everything. Salad dressing, peanuts, yogurt, etc. Only thing I don't weigh, but do measure, is my 2 tsp oil each day and half&half.

Weighing makes sure you're getting the right amount; you can round a cup of something, but if you're getting to a certain number of grams you can't fudge that. At the same time, sometimes weighing out the grams gives you MORE than would be in the tablespoon.

Oh, one thing if you drink coffee with cream: I've been using 1 T of half/half and 1 or 2 T of SoDelicious Coconut Milk Creamer. The ingredients aren't terrible, and it's something like 6 tablespoons until you hit a point. Helps get my coffee whiter without the extra points of another T of half/half.

FYI the almond milk doesn't count towards dairy; they want all the stuff that's added to dairy milk to make up a dairy serving. They want the D, the extra calcium, the protein content (not that that is added), etc etc. A bunch of stuff is added to dairy, and not all the substitutes have that. It's also why ice cream isn't a dairy serving, because those things aren't necessarily in the ice cream.

Oh there are a few diet-y things. Yogurt salad dressing from Bolthouse, and DH likes the Marie's YOGURT 1000 island. Also, if you have Trader Joes, they have a Cilantro Yogurt dip and a Kale Spinach green yogurt dip. Both are tasty and give you a good amount of food for your points-buck. Especially if you weigh them.

These weight watchers are really helpful for controlling your weights. But you need a proper diet plan with a accurate measuring device. Which help you to get proper diet with known amount of calories.

Just a warning to anyone wanting to post that our "friend" Morkel22 appears to have dragged this post back from the grave for the purposes of posting spam. Spam has been reported. Of course if any one still wants to talk about WW food finds, I'd be happy to chat! :lmao: ............P

Didn't notice. :lmao: I love the WW Brownies Bites. I just got the Fiber One lemon bars and I am in heaven!!!!!!!
