Our family will be heading to WDW in early May and my DW wanted me to post a question regarding dining. She is on the Weight Watchers diet and was wondering if anyone else has been on this diet and dined at WDW? Did you keep track of points, and if so, how? She would appreciate any other advice from those with experience.

I've done ww in Disney World many times (Hey I'll probably be doing it again next year and hopefully with more success LOL)

The best advice I can give is try to control your points during the day as much as possible. I would do this by having tea and and english muffin for breakfast and then either ordering a salad or fresh fruit for lunch, or bringing fruit into the park with me in my bag. I would also take along some of those 2 point chewy granola bars in my bag. Then I would enjoy what I wanted for dinner but I was careful about portion size. It was tough to count points accurately at dinner, but since I was so careful during the day it didn't matter as much as it could have. This year I actually came back about 2 pounds lighter than when I went. It must have been all that walking!

Hope that helps. I'm sure others will have some great advice too!:)

I agree with what AnnieT said!

We spent a week at WDW in March, and I also came back lighter (despite eating all over the World!) I'm also a Weight Watcher.

My strategy was similar to AnnieT's. I would start the day with a small breakfast. Maybe Cheerios and a banana and nonfat milk, or an English muffin, or yogurt... I tried to start the day the same way I would at home.

For lunch and dinner, I would simply try to make the best available choices at wherever we were eating. This meant avoiding fried stuff or creamy sauces, and trying to substitute salads or veggies for other things at mealtime. There were several occasions when I had a burger and fries. I did not count points, and I did not pass up desserts!!!

My philosophy was that this was a vacation I was going to enjoy, and my goal was to maintain my weight that week. I would not have been too upset to have a very small gain that week, but I think all the walking made the difference.

My advice is to enjoy your vacation, make common-sense choices, and don't fret too much about the points while you're there!

Just want to say good luck to your wife and have a great trip! I'm on WW, but I plan a cheat meal once a week, and I haven't been to WDW yet to test my WW willpower! :) I'm sure you'll be doing loads of walking, which will help with the extra "points" she may consume each day.

Stick to the grilled chicken selections, substitute fruit or carrots for fries when available and try to eat half the portion that is served (unless you go to a frou-frou place like Citricos where the portions are already half-sized, ha ha!)

GOOD LUCK!!! :) I hope she is able to enjoy the trip and stay with points or at least maintain her weight loss during your vacation!

I just remembered- Rosie's in MGM (by the tower of terror) and the lunch place in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom (is it called the Lunching pad?)--Both of them sell very tasty veggie burgers!

I remembered when KathyTX said she ate a BURGER????????!!!   ;) ;) ;) :p :p :) :)

My wife is a lifetime member of WW, so we always try to eat right when we go to WDW. We only eat breakfast out 2 0r 3 times on each trip, otherwise we eat cereal and fruit in our room. We usually take a couple of boxes of Kashi or bran flakes with us.

We do not usually have a very big lunch just fruit or salads or we might split a sandwich. Most places will let you substitute carrots for fries. We usually save most of our points for dinner.

For dinner we try to split meals about half the time on our trips, and the rest of the time we try not to stuff ourselves. If we get hungry for dessert, we will usually split one. There are so many great places to eat at WDW, you will have no trouble staying on WW.

With all the walking you will be doing don't worry about getting off WW, just don't go overboard. WDW is the greatest place to go on vacation so don't worry and have a great time.
