weight restriction question?

Can anyone tell me if there are weight restrictions on any of the rides or attractions at DW? (My husband weighs about 250lbs.) Also, are there any that he would NOT be able to fit into? (Maybe that was the same question?) We're traveling with family members & I don't want him to be embarrased on the spot ~ Know what I mean?

I can't name rides right off hand but, there ARE rides that are SIZE restricted and not so much weight restricted. I know that Everest even now has a sign up warning of larger bodies. However, I dont think someone 250lbs is going to be over any size limits.

I am a fairly big man right now about 265. I have went to Disney when 305, I never had a problem with any ride.

250 pounds on a guy is nothing. The only ride I can think of that is a tight squeeze for most all adults is Astro Obitor. But my fil weighs more than that and fit fine, he just has to ride alone or with a kid, not another adult. Your husband will be fine. Read that allearsnet link, it will put your mind at ease. WDW is so much better in the size friendly department than other theme parks. Have fun!

Depending on hoe tall he is he should be fine, DH is 250 but 6'4" and has no probs, but Im sure if he was 4'6" and 250 he would have no probs getting on any ride either.

Slightly , may I offer a recent personal experience?

I was at 242 when we left for WDW, so when we went for our horseback ride I asked about it. They were not very concerned that I was close to the limit (I think that it's more of a way to turn away someone who is WAY over 250).

The only down side was that they put me on a horse named "Jumbo".

The only ride that is tight is Goofy's Barnstormer, which you probably wouldn't be on unless you had young kids. It is a tight fit for me and not very comfortable, but my DH is 225 and was able to ride as well, again, not very comfortably!

I believe there is also a weight limit for the Segway tour in Epcot, but again that would be something you specially reserved, not a regular ride so-to-speak.

That's the funny thing, when you watch the planning videos, it appears that only fitness models and their kids go to WDW Fortunately the rides can accomodate the the more portly set (in which I am included)

I am more than 250 and had no problems with any rides (and I hav ridden most) with the exception of the roller coaster simulator at DisneyQuest. I couldn't get the harness down to lock in (chest size as opposed to waist size being the problem.) and they gave me a front of the line pass for the Pirates of the Carribean simulator for my troubles. So to the OP, I say no worries.

Yes, there is a weight limit of 250 pounds to ride on a Segway so therefore, I'd imagine that the "Around the World" and "Simply Segway" Epcot tours would have to also enforce that.

I'm probably considered extremely pooh sized I'm over the 3-- mark (refuse to put the zeros) not by choice as i work hard to try and lose the weight so far i've lost 50lbs so I'm proud of that i have a long ways to go so I deal with the "size" fear every day.

At Disney i feel like even though I may not be "normal" to most people i have never had trouble Fitting in, on , or through anything at Disney property that i have tried to ride or have ridden.

Just remember to pull the seat belts allllllll the way out before sliding them in to the clicker. sit on the edges of the seats then slide back on chairs if they are tight. and the only things that are restricted are the segways and the horseback rides as previously mentioned.

Disney makes things user friendly and thats why they continue to get my Patronage!

Thank you so much for this discussion thread. I'm a little pooh-sized myself (love that term!) so it was very comforting for me to know that, granted I need first to find the guts to ride the thrillers, I will be able to partake in all of the activities offered at the parks.

I'm still pondering the trail ride at Fort Wilderness and will likely opt for a last-minute reservation if time and weather permits. I've never been on a horse before (or a pony... sheltered childhood, go figure) so this would be quite the little adventure. However, I am now braced for a ride on "Jumbo" if I should go for the trail ride.

My DH and I are both a little bigger. He's a shade under 250 right now.

The only problem we had on any ride was Primeval Whirl. Ouch!

On PW, just let them know you want to ride two in a car, not four. It's pretty tight when two adults try to fit in the one harness, we always ride two in the car.

Normally we would have, but there was a little boy riding alone, so she put us both in there. I think it spins better with more weight (and he seemed a bit scared, so she may have wanted him to not be alone)

And last time we went we were smaller and it didn't make so much difference. So we didn't think to ask.
