Who has done both and could suggest which is better? I did WW before but with little success. LA weight loss can it get expensive?

A friend did LA and they gave her a pile of shakes and bars, seemed like a lot of money for what she got. She lost a little weight but did not get into some great habits and her underlying health issues remained (IBS).

She then followed a whole food diet (Gillian McKeith style) starting with an elimination diet. She learned that wheat was causing her a lot of problems and managed to lose some weight and felt so good. Its given her a better insight into how her body works.

I subscribe to a newsletter at mercola.com, he very rarely recommends a weight-loss product apart from eating for your metabolic type. Its an all natural product and is available in Canada. Only found out about it this weekend and I'm seriously considering it.

Know this doesn't answer your original question but it might offer alternatives.

My mom did LA and she DIDNT spend alot of money as you DO NOT have to buy thier food they try to sell the bars and shakes but not necissary so all my mom spent was the money she spent to pay for the program and nothing else.

She has lost so much weight (she was over weight) and I am so proud of her the great thing she found was she went 3 days a week for weigh ins and check in with the people as you have to write like a diary of food you are eating which I thought was great. She took the info they gave her and changed her eating habits thats what made her loose her weight not thier foods. If you want more info just ask

Thanks i always find they try and conn me into buying things once you sign up. Glad that you don't have to buy them. Is the eating plan anything like WW? I love the flexiblity of WW but somehow was not successful on it. I don't think i ate more then i should have :rolleyes1 on that program. Is LA easy to follow. I have to be able to make regular meals that my family will be eating, as i don;t want to make 2 meals.

my mom ate regular food but just in moderation as theres only so many startches you can eat, etc... I will see if I can find one of her old booklets so I can give you an idea of how it worked but she ate the same things are my brother at dinner, lunch, etc... nothing fancy or different from the family just heathlier and she actually stuck to it.

I did Weight Watchers after having my last baby. I lost 40 lbs. IMO, the beauty of WW is that you can eat anything you want as long as it fits into your daily limits. They are teaching you how to eat healthfully without saying you can't have something. Another great thing about it is that you have to grocery shop and prepare meals so your family can also eat what you're eating. I know that for me it would have been impossible if I had to watch everyone else eat what I couldn't.

I don't know about other programs but WW offers group meetings. They are not mandatory but you will pick up some excellent tips about shopping, cooking and new foods. For some people the peer support is what gets them though. For me having to face that group every week helped to keep me on the straight and narrow. WW also includes maintence for life after you reach and maintain your goal.

WW is all about the old fashioned basics. Healthy food and portion control. Throw in a little excercise and you've got it made.

I recommend the tried and true WW. I would be careful using LA as quite a few of them have taken peoples money and shut down in the states.:goodvibes

The LA just closed down her in Fredericton. They where just having a big radio promotion with big deals and the next day they were shut down.

I've tried LA and was successful w/o buying all of their packaged foods. I have a friend at work who was in the program in early 2008 in the guelph/burlington area of Ontario and was notified late last year that they were closing the centre close to her because they are bankrupt. Be careful, as I'm not sure if the bankruptcy/closure is only for those locations or for other locations in Ontario/Provinces too.
