Wendy, sorry that you have to pull out of City of Oaks....I will miss you!
Yep, we're still on for 20 on the 20th. There are 2 possible routes, but I'm beginning to think that my less favorite is actually more practical. The one I prefer leads right from my front door, covers 18 holes plus the back 9 again of a golf course and then goes all through Heritage including twice up and down a soccer field. It is hilly, but all the hills are short ones. The downside is that no one is allowed on the golf course so we have to start in the wee hours so we can be off by the time the starters arrive. The second downside is that I just learned one of the long roads which was previously under construction has finally been finished and is now open to traffic, which means it is now out of the equation. The second route is an exactly 5-mile lap around Wakefield (about 10 min. from my home) that we could do 4 times. It only has a few hills but they are gradual and l-o-n-g. One of them gets me everytime. The plus side is that we wouldn't have to start so early, especially since the weather should not be an issue. Unfortunately, we will have to veer off the course just a little bit for potty stops. John loves this route, but I actually hate it. It shouldn't be too bad if we do it together, plus we will pass our car every 5 miles so we won't have to carry all our fuel with us. Let me know if you feel strongly about either one.
