Weight and Jean Size

I'm barely 5' tall and currently weigh 156. I wear size 14 jeans. The ones I have have some spandex in them so they stretch a little. I don't think I could squeeze into regular 14's that didn't have some stretch. I used to weigh 208, and was in a tight 20 and really should have gone to 22 as I had to lay on the bed to get 'em zipped. :( I do have a pair of St. John's Bay capri pants that have elastic in the back and they are 12's and fit just fine. I think jeans size just depends on where a person carries their weight.

DW is 5'6" with thin bone structure & long legs. At 140-145 she was a 9/10. At 120-125, she's a 5,6, or 7 depending on brand. She was a loose-fitting 3 at 100 lbs when we met.

What's really odd is tops. There's almost no size of her that correlates to a medium. She's either been a small or a large.

I weigh 137, and also start with a size 10 when trying on jeans. But different brands can really vary quite a bit, and I agree that a lot has to do with where you carry your weight.

Let me start by saying I am not fat shaming anyone. Just a question.

Last night I turned to Extreme Weight Loss and the woman said she was now a size ten jeans. I believe they said she was at 179 pounds.

I wear size ten and I weigh 133 pounds (I'm 5'6"). I can't understand the disparity. I am not "that" pear shaped.

So ladies, if you will, what is your weight and jean size? I was a size six when I got down to 118 pounds a few years ago.

I'm a size 14 and weigh 205 lbs. It has a lot to do with how your weight is distributed, height etc. I can honestly say if I were to get down to 179 I would also be a size 10, maybe a tight one, but a size 10 nonethaless. I can say this with confidence because when i got married I was 170 and was in a size 10 ;)

I'm 5'6" tall, btw.

Sounds like my SIL. She is an inch taller than me, but even at 20-30 pounds heavier she can wear an 8.

I'm 185 and I wear a size 14

When I was my thinnest I was 167 and wore a size 10

People are always stunned with my weight because I don't look that heavy
I have a big frame and big bone structure so I've always been heavier than other people.

I am 5'3". Generally when I am 125-135 I am in a 6. From 135-145 I have to go up to an 8. I have hit 150 in the past but I continued to wear my 8's even though they were very tight and uncomfortable because I absolutely refused to go out an buy a 10. It was an incentive to lose weight.

Same here! My doc once said "Where do you store it all??" HAHA brains and attitude throw it off ;)

When I was in high school, I was 140 lbs and wore a solid size 8 across the board. Occasionally a 6 if it was a skirt or dress, haha. I got up to 323 lbs and am in the process of losing back down to my goal weight of 155 lbs. Right now I'm 215 lbs and am a 14 in every pair of pants I've tried on recently. It really does just depend on body proportion and individual body makeup. I carry my weight really well and am tall (5'8").

I am not convinced your weight always correlates to size. I wear size 4 in pretty much everything (every once in awhile 6 in a tighter fitting pencil skirt and sometimes a 2 in skirts and dresses that do not hug the hips) and I am not talking about squeezing into things with muffin tops. However, I am about 5'6" and about 138-140 (sometimes I can get to below 135). I run or lift weights 5-6 days a week and have for years. I am very "solid." I mean even at weigh ins at doctors they are surprised by my weight. I think part of it for me is I carry in more in my butt, thighs and calves. For example, it is hard for me to sometimes find a cute pair of denim capris because in order for them to fit my calves, they will not stay up on my waist.
My DD is similarly sized (except shorter) and she wears a size 4 even from places like Abercrombie and Fitch. Interestingly enough, she's into 1980's vintage high waisted "mom jeans" from thrift stores and she wears a size 4 in those types of jeans too. So, if she was just as solid but 30 lbs heavier, I could see her only going up 2 sizes.

Those extreme weight loss folks are usually quite fit.

Also, check out My Body Gallery. It's a website and you can put in weight, height, body shape, pant size, or any combination of those and see real photos of real women. It's incredible the difference in body types and pant sizes at the same weight. Definitely worth a look!

I'm 5'7" and 174 and wear a size 10. When I was thinner (150) I was a size 8.

It really is about body type. I'm very muscular and weight a lot more than people think I do. I'm about 140/5'3" and wear a size 4.

I weigh around 165 and wear a size 12 or 14 jeans depending on the brand. I carry most of my weight in my thighs and stomach. To the point where some very obnoxious people have asked me when I'm due (nope, not pregnant, just fat, thanks for making my day!).

I used to work at a maternity store. My weight is pretty evenly distributed, but I was morbidly obese at the time - none of your body parts are small, at that point. I got the "when are you due?!" Or "how far along are you?!" comment at least 1-2 times every shift I worked. Lots of fun. Lol

I have recently lost 65 Lbs since March. I started in an Old Navy Size 20, and I am now an Old Navy Size 14. In high school, I was a fit 160 and wore a size 10 Abercrombie Shorts. So I Definitely think it depends on the body type. I typically have to buy pants bigger due to my thighs and it has been that way no matter what my weight is.

I think there is such a wide variety of body sizes/shapes and sizes of pants vary so much depending on the brands that you can't really guess what size someone might be wearing.

My daughter is 130 lbs, 5'2" and she wears either a 29" waist in young mens or a size 5 in juniors. So yeah, close to your weight, but a very different size.

I'm 5'1" with what I'm told is a large/wide bone structure - broad (across) hips and shoulders, yet my ribs and hipbones stick out. At this point in my pregnancy, I have NO idea what my true size is anymore - my belly is the only part that's gotten larger, my baby weighs 7-8 lbs. already, yet I've only gained 5 lbs. overall :confused3 I'm wearing XL (14-16?) across the board in maternity clothes, but they really only fit me across the shoulders and in the belly; the bust area in tops is extremely loose and the butt/thighs in pants are extremely saggy.

Back when I was a senior in HS (1991-92), I remember my measurements were 36-28-38, I wore a size 10 in bottoms...and I weighed 167 lbs.

FWIW, in my pre-pregnancy days...my mother is 4 inches taller than me, 10 lbs. LIGHTER in weight, but she's 4 sizes larger in clothing. Completely different body type.
