Okay this has been mulling in my head for quite some time and I haven't been able to weigh out the pros and cons very well - so it finally hit me, why don't I ask the wonderful people of the Teen Board to help me out? I suppose I could post this on the College Board, but I'm fairly certain I know the type of response I'd get there so tell me...what would you do?

I am going to be a sophomore in college this fall and I am an English/Secondary Ed major. I am considering doing the Disney CP for the Spring of '09...but I'm not sure if I should wait until the spring of '10 to go, when I'm a junior. The thing is, I know several seniors this year and doing the program would mean me saying good-bye to them at the end of the fall semester and I don't know if I'm ready to say bye to them this soon lol. Waiting until the following year would give me another semester with them. One of the seniors I know is someone I'm interested in and I know is interested in me but we aren't quite a "couple"...I have a feeling going away would ruin whatever chances I have of actually getting anywhere with him. However, if I wait until junior year, I might be putting myself in a very challenging situation as far as classes go. There is no doubt I want to do this program, it's just a matter of when (and the fall sessions are out of the question for me). What do you guys think? Would you put off doing the CP for another year because of your friends and "like"-interest? lol.

That is a tough decision! I would probably do it my junior year, because I would want to be back on campus with all of my friends getting ready for graduation, ect. I know thats the time when alot of students go abroad and stuff like that. Would this hold you back in graduating? I guess it doesn't really matter anymore. It'll probably take me 4.5 years to get done with the first part.

About the guy, hmmm, thats a toughy. If nothing comes between you and him between now and then, and there shouldn't be any hesitations in going. But, if it does, I would hope that he would be supportive of you in doing this. Plus, nows the time to do what you want!!

GL, and let me know what you end up doing. :)

you PROBABLY don't want to hear this...

but you should choose which one you'll be more happy with. :)

if you do it in the fall, will you be okay leaving your friends behind? or in the Spring.. , will you be okay w/ the class situation?

Choose the one where you'll know you wil have less worries and enjoy you're time there without looking back :rotfl:

That's tough, but if you're going for education, don't you start student teaching in your junior year? I'm going for that as well, and all of the schools that I visited told me that starting my junior year I start student teaching, and my senior year is all student teaching.

If you and your "interest" are close, saying goodbye for a few months won't really hurt, especially if both of you really want to start a relationship.

I would do the CP program ASAP, simply because if you postpone it, it might make your classes harder, like you said.

Good luck with you choice!! Whatever you choose will work out, just remember that. Everything happens for a reason. :goodvibes

Thank you all! All of your responses have helped me. I think I'm edging on going for it this coming Spring...I suppose saying good-bye to my friends will come eventually and now that I think about it, I'm going to have to say bye to my friends junior year as well, lol. G'ah, I just hate saying bye lol.

Student teaching is senior year - for us at least. And speaking of education preperation, I will probably have to take my subject test for MTEL (the teacher licensure exam) my junior year. I'm taking the literacy portion of MTEL this summer. So I would be really jamming in everything my fall semester of junior year if I decided to wait.

I suppose doing it now is the best...but the timing for things have been so awful for me lately that I just fear it's going to really suck if I end up having to go away for a while this Spring. There is no doubt in my mind, however, that I want to do the Disney CP. It's an experience that I will forever regret if I let it pass by me.
