Weekend stays

I just booked 2 nights at the "other park" at one of their best properties for my May trip. Tomorrow, I am going to call and take 2 of my days off of my reservation. Maybe I will help someone's Boardwalk view waitlist come through. I relooked at my points on that reservation today, I must have had a brain lapse when I booked it. I really don't mind the move as long as it is not every other day.

When we lived in PA we did whole weeks without worrying about the weekend premium. Now that we live in Orlando we stay Sun to Fri. No need to stay the week so why pay the premium.

Good Thread...
We live in the west (AZ), and two of the biggest vacation expenses we have are just getting there (Airfare), and admission to the parks. Once there, we like to settle in, and make the most of the time we have there, so moving is not really an option (besides, my wife wont let me  )

In order to maximize our points, we alternate between 1BR and a studio every year (DW, DD-5, DS -4 and me).

Bottom line, we bought DVC, so we wouldn't have to pay for a hotel. We use it as much as we can, and if we find that we need more points in the future, we'll have to consider it.

When I first started using my points.. I stayed Saturday to Saturday after a few years of playing with the points and of course buying the dreaded Ap's. It just became a cheap vacation to take the kids. ( after all the passes are allready paid)

Then I figured out well if I only do Sunday to Friday and stay cash on the weekends I can stretch my points out to 2 weeks per year. So we ended up doing that.

Now with the purchase of AKV points. I have to say if I do what I want there and move from a 1 bedroom to a value studio on weekends and then back to the 1 bedroom on Sunday . I will begin using the weekend points but ONLY at AKL value studios.
then perhaps do one 2 week stay instead of two trips
( somtimes 3:rolleyes1 per year)

Just my take on weeekend points, your mileage may vary......
