I booked next Saturday-Sunday (Sept 12-13) at the Caribbean Beach Resort for me & the BF to just relax (no parks). I have never hung out at a resort during the day when staying on site as I am usually in the parks so some questions. TIA

My game plan for Saturday is to arrive like 10-11am & chill by the pool all afternoon. Is the pool area fun? Can I bring subs or snacks from home to have down at the pool? My own drink cups?

Saturday night we will head to DS & the Boardwalk to explore & eat & drink. Any must haves or things to check out? Haven't been to either of those for years. How crowded have those places been recently?

**How do we get back to CBR from the Boardwalk at night? I assume from DS we catch a bus to the hotel to get there? Maybe Saturday night needs to start at Boardwalk 1st then to DS just cause transportation would be easier?

Sunday will be low key too. Maybe hang by the pool awhile. How long can we stay at the pool if it's our checkout day? Ride the skyliner around?

I guess my biggest concerns are with the re-opening what's really open at the resorts & is it worth us going over? Can we do the things I mentioned above? I have only been in the parks since re-opening so I know not everything is fully operating. I am all about the Disney magic, but it's still like $250 so if things are closed I'll plan this another time (I want to cancel by this Sunday for a refund).

You can bring your own food and beverages into the pool area. No glass jars or bottles.

DS gets pretty busy with locals at night and especially on weekends. You will see a lot more chin hammocks and nose slings instead of properly worn masks. Enforcement is not as stringent as it is in the parks. Your choice. Just be aware that there have been multiple posts with this observation.

The Boardwalk area is dead at night. No entertainment. No surrey bike rentals. Very little in the way of dining options. I wouldn’t make a special trip there. If driving, you will not be able to park there unless you have an ADR. Take the EPCOT Skyliner and walk from the IG if you go.

You’re a guest of CBR until midnight of your checkout day. You can hang at the pool as long as you want but you have to be out of your room at 11 AM.

I agree with PP that the Boardwalk area is pretty dead right now. If you aren't going there for something specific (pizza window?), I would skip it this time around. Ample Hills is also closed, so there's not even that to look forward to. :( On the flip side, if you ever wanted to take a leisurely walk around Cresent lake without much traffic, now is a pretty good time to do it. Outside of park open and closes, there's not many people out an about over there.

If you are truly looking for some time to relax, this is a great time to go because there really isn't a lot to do. So, you are pretty much forced to just hang out and relax.

Thanks for the feedback & answers!!

Skipping the Boardwalk. Will plan on crowds at DS Saturday night.

Where is Cresent Lake? That might be a nice Sunday activity.

Crescent Lake is the name of the lake that the Boardwalk is on.

The feature pool at CBR is the one with the big slides and pirate fort. It is nice but does get very crowded, especially after lunch when people leave the parks to escape the heat. There are also quiet pools near the resort rooms that are much less crowded, but more of a basic pool without features. Note: all pools get shut down if there is lightning in the area, which is pretty much every day this time of year. It was usually about an hour or two every afternoon. We didn't mind because we had a longer stay and had lots of opportunities to swim, but might be a bummer if you are there on an especially stormy day.
