So excuse my ignorance since I haven't been to WDW in 20 years, but why are weekend point allocations higher? Is it simply supply and DVC trying to keep the resorts evenly booked?
At DLR the weekends are higher priced, but it make sense to me since often Fantasmic doesn't play on the weekend, there are no fireworks, not as many parades, no ElecTRONica, just not as much stuff going on. I like the lower crowds and shorter hours of weekdays but we usually try to put at least one weekend day in for the sake of the fireworks, shows, etc.
When I look at the WDW calendar, there doesn't seem to be anything during the weekend that doesn't happen during the rest of the week show/firework/parade-wise. :confused3 So if I'm planning a trip and weekend/weekday doesn't matter since we're flying ridiculously far and staying awhile, is there any reason I should plan to spend some weekend days at the parks/DVC resorts and pay more points? Or should I just plan on weekdays and saving points and not be missing anything? (This is my current plan, to cruise on the weekend in the middle of our trip.)
I know there was a big uproar over the point allocations last year, which we've only owned for 3.5 years so didn't have time to get used to anything and didn't care about that. Honestly just curious if there's another reason weekend nights cost more points that would give me an advantage in planning another night or two at the beginning or end of my stay.

yes.

edited to add: point costs for weekends were even higher up until a couple of years ago (presumably to keep FL residents from buying into DVC and taking just the weekend nights.) but due to supply and demand changing over time, point costs were reallocated.

it's not impossible that in a few years, DVC could flatten the charts completely. it just depends on how the demand works out...

They started out higher because if FL residents booked weekends us out of staters couldn't get our week stays. They have evened it out more because many members booked sunday thru fri and rooms were empty on the weekends.
