I've heard that weekends have a very different vibe at Epcot - more locals, more focus on food, and more of a drinking/party vibe. (I'm not expecting it's crazy or anything, but just not as laid back as weekdays.)

What about weekend *mornings* and mid-days?

It probably depends on when you go. I have an AP and so do a few family members that live an hour away from WDW so we have no choice but to go to Epcot on weekends due to work schedules. During food and wine (November) the weekends were INSANELY busy. Every food line was a mile long and all of the big rides (Test Track, Soarin, Frozen, and Remy with virtual queue) had substantial waits. Definitely a lot more people drinking and walking around than going on rides, though. The line to get into the Mexico pyramid went all the way out to Norway/beginning of China. Obviously YMMV but that was what I experienced when going during that busy period.

My experience is more limited than others, but I will say that right now all days are busy & weekends seem/are still substantially busier than weekdays. 😳

In Epcot, I would say the focus is still more on food (esp over wknds), but I’ve never noticed any serious drinking vibe in the morn/midday like you get in the evening. There can always be a one-off, but it’s not the norm IMO.

When Epcot didn't open until 10 (or even 11? not sure) it was probably worse. Now that it opens earlier, it's probably not too bad if you arrive for rope drop. I don't think the food booths open until closer to 11, and that's what draws more people, and of course there's an increase at 2:00 and after when the park hoppers can arrive.
