Weekend in January

So, my DGf wants to run the Half-Marathon in WDW in early January. She wants me to come with her, but I have a huge problem trying to get out of work! The race is Sunday morning...do you think it's pointless to pay for airfare and a hotel Friday evening, returning Sunday Evening, when I'm only actually going to get one day in the parks? Tell me your thoughts... Should we book?

If money is not an issue than definately go!!! If she's doing the 1/2 then that race is on Sat., the full marathon is on Sunday. I did the 1/2 this year and it was wonderful. It would be great for you to be there to cheer her on. I had my whole family including parents , nieces & SIL. They even made signs to hold up for me. I was able to see them at the Contemporary then while I went thru MK they hopped on the monorail & I saw them again at Poly then they hopped back on teh monorail to be at Epcot when I finished. The whole atmosphere of the race is amazing & it would be great to share it with her. Good luck!

When we did the half marathon in 2004, we flew in on Saturday morning (the race was on Sunday then) and flew back home on Monday morning. We had a FANTASTIC time running the race and going to PI that night. We had very little time in the parks (MK was all we managed to do for about 4 hours) but the parks are empty that weekend so you can get a lot done.

It was a tremendous experience and I recommend it to anyone who is considering running (or walking) the race!

I definitely want to be there to cheer her on. Money is not TOO MUCH of an issue, but I was thinking of possibly taking a day or two off for a personal day or something. This way, we could at least have a few nice dinners and possibly ride some rides
