DH found a good price ($59/night) for a room at the Grosvenor, so we stayed there Friday and Saturday night. We have stayed there previously, and found it to be nice (but not a Disney resort, of course). We like the location, and there is a decent view if you stay in a tower room.
This weekend, I was really disappointed. We didn't get a tower room for this price (of course) and our view was parking lot. I thought the room smelled funny, although DH said he didn't notice anything. It was a smoking room, which could explain the smell, but I thought it smelled like urine. Not sure if DH didn't know to ask for non-smoking, but shouldn't the reservationist ask our preference?
The drain in the tub/shower was slow. Your feet and ankles were taking a bath while the rest of you was taking a shower.
On the positive side, Grosvenor provides a fridge, a coffee-maker, and an iron and full sized board (not that I would ever iron on a trip). On the negative side again, no safe.
The grout between the tiles in the shower, and the tiles on the floor, was not as clean-looking as I would prefer.
We did not complain, but we did fill out the comment card with all the details we didn't like. We won't bother staying there again.
Oh, and to send a one-page fax, they charged us $5.

Those reasons are the main reasons I fear staying on a DTD property vs a Disney Resort. Thank you for this post, it has confirmed my wanting be on Dis Property vs saving a few $ at DTD hotel. We are staying at PC this time and the extra $15 I feel will be worth it.

Start planning your next trip so you can think about something else other than the stay.

Sorry for the bad experience. :(

My supervisor stayed at the Grosvenor last summer during a business meeting and said that the rooms were ok, but worn. It sounds like they need to renovate. Hope you had a great trip.:D
