Week to long at disneyland

We always go for 10 days. We have also gone to WDW three times for 11-14 days. Universal Hollywood is definitely a one-day trip, versus Orlando/IOA, which is definitely 2+ days. Since your kids are older, I would think about Knott's (bigger rides). GCH is awesome, though. We love just hanging at the pool and walking around (oh and having drinks at the Hearthstone Lounge haha). I wouldn't stay for less than a week!

Unless you are from somewhere super landlocked, I wouldn't make it a point to go to the beach. They are just "eh" and the water isn't warm.

DH and I went to DL a couple years ago for 6 days.... We decided 4 Days for Disney and DCA is plenty, you would want to check out Sea World or some other Cali. places....I love Disneyland But I also see and do everything I want in 4 days and then I am wiped out and broken!!! LOL:rotfl:

I have been a few times to Disneyland. All the other trips were 3 days in DL. NOT ENOUGH TIME. When we recently went we went for a week and it was AWESOME. I am now booking next years trip for a week also because we loved the leisurely feel.

We are taking a trip to the beach and a couple of people might go to Legoland..other than that? Disney all the time :)

I've been twice so far this year, and am going back for a third time in early December. I've only been able to go for 3-4 days at a time due to work, and I would LOVE to have a full week to just sort of mosey and take it all in.

I agree that there is tons to do, and that you don't need to spend every second inside the parks. I wouldn't shorten the trip at all.

I too have to say that our family loves to be in DLR for a week. We go in Oct. and this will be our fourth time coming up, that we have stayed for a week. Our family consists of DH, Me, and DD (10) and we like to take our time, maybe do a "land" a day, shop, watch, eat, etc. There is so much to do and see between DLR, DCA, DTD, and day trips, that I think you'll have a great trip!

We have been many times and we still go for six or seven day at a time. Our family of four has found the seven day trip works best for us. The wife checks with our DL rep a week before the trip to find out what is going on the week we are there, this includes anything new as well as times for all the parades and character information. She takes that information, our early park entry days, as well as RideMax info to make our schedule for the first four to five days. She puts together quite the schedule which includes the rides of course, shows, parades, and character meals. We see it all and then on the last two or three days we see our favorites again. Be sure to get the DL guide from disney ASAP. Go through it page by page, everything that is in the parks, is in the guide. That way you won't miss anything you would like. We see things every trip that friends miss. It is amazing how many people that go to DL yearly or more often and have not been to "Morning Madness","Crush", or even the "Alladen" play. That is why you need the DL guide from disney, it is all in there. Also you should enjoy the "Disney Grand Hotel", it has great facilities, shopping, and pools. Offering my three cents worth. :cool1:

Thanks. I like the slow pace idea and sounds like it is not too difficult to go exploring. What is the DL guide by Disney? We are from Ohio so may do the beach or Hollywood one day. Thanks again

I agree that one week at Disneyland Resort is great. It lets you take the trip easy and gives you time for relaxation on your vacation in addition to running-around-fun. The pool at GCH has a great pirate ship for the kids to play on.

I recommend playing it by ear. You may like the luxury of a relaxed trip. If, after the first 3-days, you think you'll want to do other things to, you can make additional plans. But it is a bit of a drive to go to other parks (Knott's Berry Farm isn't a bad drive), which will take time out of your day and put you in traffic. I disagree. It is only like 1 to 2 exits from Ball Rd. on I5 Which is where DL is located. I do agree the LA area has a lot of traffic but Buena Park is only 1-2 exits away.

If you go to Hollywood make sure to go to the Hollywood Walk of Fame with all the stars on the street. It is very interesting. There are lots of things to do in Hollywood like Universal Studios and I believe they have a wax museum and places like that. Another Park besides Knotts Berry farm which me and my family love is also Knotts soak City if you like water parks. They also have Dinner Theaters like in Orlando like Pirates Dinner Theater (which I absolutely love and same do our kids 10, 12 & 15), also Medieval Times. I would look online at Southern California and see all that they have to offer and talk it over with your family to see what spikes their interest. Legoland in Carlsbad which is next to San Diego in IMO is for toddlers. But there is a lot to do in San Diego The zoo, Seaworld, and they have a wild animal park.

Well, I must join in and add on to the folks that say a week at DLR is wonderful. Granted we take our time wandering the parks, we sleep in daily, play at the pool, and ride almost every ride numerous times. Doing all these things takes a week!!! We just like the feeling of not being rushed, knowing we can sleep in and then not feeling guilty for missing park time! It really is how much Disney you and your family can tolerate, though. And personally, I can take a lot!! We are going back for 6 days in December for the second time this year....:cheer2:

DL guide book is simply the "DisneyLand Visitors Guide". You get it from Disney Travel. It is a complete travel guide to DL of course. It has all the info from the website, plus a lot more in a book(almost as big as the LA phonebook). Hope they still have it, even with all the changes they have been doing the last two years. For example it has info on the "Crush", "Alladin", and all the other shows as well as step by step directions on how to get to each show or ride or whatever. Of course the only way to get one is from your Disney Travel Rep. Hopefully you are going through disney travel. My wife loves her DL guide (I think that is the name, ask your DL rep about it). The book also has a lot of the history of the park and the attractions as well. Another thing in the book is the "hidden Mickeys" through out the park and how that got started, but if you want the full story about the hidden mickeys you have to get the book on that. Hope this may help:cool1:
