Week of August 21st- park hours change and fp ?

i noticed that they really extended MK hours this week... Monday the 22nd now 8am-12. And a few other days this week really extended. This would imply to me that they are expecting it to be very busy. Sucks b/c I'd like to take advantage of those hours but already have my fp picked and would hate to switch parks but then not get decent MK fp back (i.e./ 7DMT).
Any idea why this week is expected to be busy ( aside from free dining - last year this week was very manageable ) even flights this week seemed to be much higher.
Also- I tried to see if I could figure out fp availability at MK on the Monday even though I have mine picked at another park but it won't let me.. Any way I can do it for another park without cancelling my current ones? I know you can for same park.

We go that week every year, crowds have always been very manageable! They always extend the hours last minute & I've never found mid to late August to be busy at all. It's one of the reasons we love August (it certainly isn't the heat) lol

We too go at the end of August every year and agree that it is manageable. Also they extended the hours to be what they normally are every year. The original hours posted for the end of August had MK closing earlier than previous years. I am so glad that they extended. We planned for it and would have been upset if it closed so early. We never leave MK before 12am or 1am.

@Jennny - What days are you looking for in MK and what rides? I could see if those are the days we are going and check availability for you. Enjoy your time in Disney.

Here are the Steps for checking what's available at a different park when you've already booked FPs for that day:

From the app:
~ tap the "+"
~ select guests
~ select date and new park
~ continue beyond any warnings
~ you won't lose anything if just checking availability.
~ when you confirm, that's when any originals are replaced if you are completely pre-booking for the new park.

Thanks! I hadn't updated the app and once I did I was able to check. I want to change my MK day to Monday and do the 8-12. But that means changing my Epcot to the Sunday and I can't get FEA. I struggled with originally picking MK for Sunday 21st b/c of EMM( which we agent doing - but read it didn't have much impact ) but now that parks open til 11 I do think we will be ok staying that late ( never had before) I'm Sure it will all work out! I do love the 8 am's though, but we will go again on the Friday for EMH so we will get the early start then
