DW,DD and I will be heading down to the BWV during school vacation week
and being that it's our first time at that time of the year...
is there anything special planned that week and/or month for
the Parks and/or DVCers?
...and we're still waitlisted for 2/19! Keep your fingers crossed!

Hi! I am sorry I do not have anything special to tell you about since I only went once during that week over 13 years ago so I do not really remember details. I am wondering since you are from Long Island (me too), however, if you booked airfare yet. We usually fly jet blue but they are asking 299 per person one way. I have been going back and forth with whether I should cancel OKW or pay the high airfare since it was supposed to be an 80th birthday celebration for my dad .I am not sure what to do.

Well, I hope you and your family have a terrific trip and good luck with airfare, assuming you are flying!! :flower:

We have gone school vacation week the last couple years. For next year (2006) I'm not sure there is anything special. Sometime Mardi Gras falls that week, but I think it's later next year. And last year they had an ESPN weekend, but again, I think that's now the weekend after Pres week.

Usually only one of the water parks is open

Last year MK was open until midnight 5 of 7 nights! It was great to buzz in there late when the other parks had closed.

Jet Blue?
Forget them! :rotfl:
I'm on the internet everyday looking at the Southwest Airlines site!
$79.00 one-way! The only thing you need to do is check the site every day...
supposedly, they'll change the date(how far in advance you can book a flight)
about the same time every month. That would be about the 20-26th and it's
NOT guarenteed it'll be then! Southwest out of MacArthur Airport is a better
deal...you just need to be aware that of the date you'll be arriving where ever minus(-)
5 months! At that time(the 5 month window) get on the internet EVERYDAY! Good Luck! -aDVCguy

advcguy - don't plan on that $79 fare if you hope to fly Sat/Sun of Pres weekend and return the weekend after. I was on within minutes of them opening up the schedule last year and everthing was unavailable except for the 2 most expensive fares. BY October 20, all the flights for those two days were completely sold out except for 2. You could get the $79 if you waited until Tuesday to fly out and flew back on Tuesday a week later. At least this was true for BDL (Hartford) cuz it's our school vacation week. Syracuse might be a little better, but I'd start mentally preparing to pay a little more now.

Good Luck aDVCguy with the Southwest flight. I have been checking there but I think the cheapest fare there for that very popular week will not be that cheap, as Rpsemont said. I think I am going to have to give up since Southwest will probably not post its fares until next month and I think I may need to bank my points by the end of this week if I do not do this Feb. trip. I will call MS tomorrow and make sure. Since there will be 5 of us I really can not afford this high airfare for all 5. I wish Southwest would have posted our dates already so I could be sure. Well, good luck to you!!

Rpsemont: I agree Tuesday of Pres. week, even on jetblue, was much more reasonable, however, that would mean I would have to stay over the weekend on points and I can not afford that with a 2 bedroom. This would be our 2nd trip for this use year and I only have 200 points total. I did consider only staying 3 nights but for that money it would not be worth it. For us, staying until the following Tues. is not an option with school. I know you were really responding to aDVCguy, but thank you for your input. Thanks!

Yea, I know what you mean about weekend points. However last year I was surprised that they came out with some special rate - sorry, I can't remember if it was AP or not - so we were at OKW Mon-Fri, POFQ for Fri and Sat at $100/night - back to OKW for sun-mon. I know alot of people consider moving to be a pain, but we deal with it pretty well and find it cost effective.

We're fortunate to have Rapid Rewards tickets this year, so DD wil not have to miss any school in Feb. Usually she misses 1-2 days because we go for the low fares.
