Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I've never been much of a runner, but I walk every day for about an hour, mixed in with various Jillian Michaels DVDs lol. Is anyone on here a fit-bit person? I'd love to have a fit-bit step challenge in Disney!!

I've got a Garmin instead of a Fitbit but it will be interesting to see how many steps we get at Disney!

My highest day on our last trip was over 30,000 steps! We were at Epcot that day and staying at BC, but dd6 was sick and back at the room with dh and ds8. We were having problems with our dining plan and our magicbands and... well, I won't scare you with the details. Suffice it to say, I walked back and forth a time or two from Epcot to BC plus walking all around Epcot. It was a lot. That was our last park day before we left. Quite a trip! I'm hoping this trip is more uneventful. :)

It would be fun to get our Fitbit handles and do a challenge for the week! 30k in a day is a LOT. My highest tends to run just over 20k, and my average is more like 12k.

How do you find your Fitbit handle? If you know how you can try looking for me: Jamie Oakman.

It looks like I need either an email address or to be friends with you on facebook?

Just looked at this - it looks like I'd need your email address or to link it to my facebook which I won't do :)

If anyone would like to message me their email address I'll be happy to start a group on fit bit!

We always say we want to bring a pedometer. My husband got a smartwatch that tracks steps (not very accurately) but will probably at least give us a good idea! Especially on those crazy long 12+ hour days, I would love to know how much we walk. If the excruciating body aches are any indication, its A LOT :crutches:

I ran my first half in May but unfortunately developed a running injury and have been out of commission since. I'm going crazy.

We hit between 6-8 miles per day in Disney according to my fit bit last year!

Brace yourselves...this is a long and sappy one.

In 2014 we took our first family trip to WDW along with my parents, sisters and their families. All summer long before the trip I so wanted to get pregnant and be able to announce it to my family at the happiest place on earth in September. I knew the chances were slim as we had already had a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy and I had just 1 tube left. (At the time we had 3 amazing children ages 4, 3 and 1). Well we didn't get to make that announcement. And halfway through our trip I was getting off the monorail carrying my 1 year old and I said to DH "I'm so glad I'm not pregnant " It's just so physically demanding with little kids. Even being an active person it's still hard. So once again, God knew just what we needed!

And 2 weeks after we were home we found out we were expecting Mouseketeer #4! We made the announcement to our families by sending them pics of our family of 5 in front of the castle and then adding in the annohncement. Let's just say they weren't nearly as excited as we were...so I'm so glad we didn't tell them in person at Disney!

And this little baby boy is almost 16 months old and still won't walk! But he's my baby and the sweetest thing in the world and all the other kids love him to pieces.

We took him to Disney last year when he was 11 weeks old and he did amazing. I told people "when you are made at Disney you do great at Disney".

So now I think I know why Disney has a special place in my heart. Family and friends may not get it, but that's ok.

God's grace that He has shown us through the life of this little boy that we weren't sure we would ever be able to have has been unexplainable.

And when I get stressed about my dining and fastpasses I remember that Christmas Eve when I lost a little baby I didn't even know I had...all the while losing half my blood supply due to the tube rupture, requiring a transfusion...I remember that God saved my life that day so I could still be a mommy, and all is ok!

P.S. thank you to all the blood donors out there...

@twoolle That's just beautiful, what a wonderful story about you and your precious little boy and your family. <3 <3 I can see why Disney is so special to you.

Aww that's a wonderful story - what beautiful memories (and a beautiful big family!) you have

Thanks everyone. I'm so glad I found this group of such nice people! Now I just hope none of you are in my way and I accidentally bump my stroller into you while making the mad dash to 7DMT at rope drop! It would be awkward to meet that way. Haha...it's kind of like when you cut someone off on your way to church and then they follow you the whole way so you start praying they don't go to the same church as you!

@twoolle thanks for sharing your wonderful story! It's amazing how some things happen and how truly blessed we all are  And I love the follow up on RD mad dash as well! ;)

I'm planning to pay off our package today (2nd part of our split-stay) and purchase tickets to EMM on 11/29 and MVMCP on 11/27! I don't know why I'm so nervous about it! :scared:

I have been going back and forth about getting EMM for 11/27!! Still have not been able to get a mine train fast pass!
