Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Most of the crowd numbers seem to be moved up about two numbers or so. Need to evaluate more later when I have more time though!

My crowd levels changed from 1,2,3 to 4,5,6 at the park I will visit each day. The overall resort crowd levels went from 1,2,3,5 to 4,6,7.

I think the numbers moved closer to what I was anticipating. It's still a gut-check though, to actually see those numbers. When we went last year over Labor Day, I was so shocked at the crowds! MK was supposed to be a 3 the day we went and it ended up being a 6. I would have preferred to be prepared for that number. This is better. Having said that, if they forecast a 6 and it ends up a 9, I'll still be shocked! Hopefully their forecasts will be a bit more accurate now that they've adjusted their numbers.

I know TP was reworking their numbers since crowds have changed so much over the past years. I'll be looking at everything once the kids get to bed. And try not to stress. But oy!

Report back with your analysis!

I don't have the subscription so I will be curious to see what you think since we will be going about the same days.

ok so our week specifically seems to have jumped because they are expecting larger crowds as "The time between thanksgiving and christmas is shorter this year". Per a blog post over on TP. Less time to cram the holiday visitors in I guess?

That, and they have been WAY OFF on a lot of occasions, and both Josh and TP have been lamenting the changes to wait times due to FPP. previous walk on attractions (such as TTA, Figment, LWTL, etc) often end up with decent waits because of FPP. TP has been talking about making a shift in crowd calendars once they had better data on it all. And boy did they. I've been reading a lot of "What once was a 2 is now a 5" type comments so I think a lot of the number changes are just that - the numbers actually match the crowds.

I went ahead and renewed my membership so I can make some custom plans and see how wait times are looking. The week we went last year was 3-4's if I remember and we found wait times very doable most of the time with using a good plan and optimizing our FPP. I guess we will see?

Oh geez, you're right. Now I have to go back and re-optimize the touring plans I've already made. Probably my biggest concern now is whether I want to stick with my park-hopping plans or stick to one park instead. So tough to decide! I'm scared to miss rope drop anywhere now!

Once you reoptimize, let us know how much your wait times changed will you? I'm just curious :)

and yes I think rope drop is going to be a huge advantage!

I was planning to hit HS on Sunday the 27th for EMH, and that park is projected to be an 8/10 that day. Yikes.

well I tried to make a custom plan for HS that sunday and it really doesn't look too bad for projected waits - I set it to do Jedi training, TSMM, ToT x2, star tours x2, GMR, RnR (all with rider swap where applicable) plus the star wars show and launch bay and my longest wait time was 40 min for TSMM without any FPP put in. And my day ended by 2:30 when I added in a 30 min QS lunch.

then I started going well what if DH and DS did RnR while the little one and I went to TSMM first thing. Then we could do xyz...and 30 min later I'm down the rabbit hole and still haven't saved any plan. LOL.

I have a fantastic touring plan figured out (for us, that is) for our Hollywood Studios day (Thursday, 12/1). The times on it really didn't change a bit. We still get done with everything by about 4:30. Then we'll spend time re-riding rides and waiting around for the fireworks.

however those projected 10's on the 25th and 26th are certainly enough to keep me out of the parks haha

Ugh, unless we don't do MK one day, we have to do HS on Saturday, and that's the day of my Minnie's reservation, which I don't foresee being able to change.

Maybe I should get a touring plans subscription. Do you think they've really got it figured out better than anyone else?

I was not nervous about crowds in the least until everyone yesterday. In fact I was going with a rather relaxed attitude and other than booking FP and ADRs. We were just going to play it by ear and see where our moods led us. Now.... I feel like I need a better plan. Especially since we were originally planning 11/28 and 12/5 as MK days both are now predicted 9 days. I was mainly planning the parks based on the ADRs....
