Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I got a letter In the mail today that one of the 2 pools at sports will be closed for refurb during our stay. Ugh.

I mean, we only swam once let trip, and maybe it will be to cool to swim anyway in early December. But still!

Which pool at which resort?? Ugh!

EDIT: I looked at your signature... must be All Star Sports?

Sorry yes. The grand slam pool at all star sports. Lame!

I must admit, one of my concerns about traveling during this time is that either the pool or the splash pad (we're at AoA) will be closed for refurb. My dd7 (will be 8 when we go) has been looking forward to that part almost as much as riding Frozen Ever After!

Understandable for sure - the pools there are Amazing and it would be such a bummer to have that taken away!

my next dilemma to figure out in planning land is that I can't decide on my FP choices - TSMM vs RnR Soarin vs FEA, etc. so tough to know!

Okay, I'm having to really get serious about my priorities here if I want to consider adding a room only reservation at the beginning so we can go down on Saturday instead of Monday. We had 4-5 ADR's we were interested in, but I think we can cut that down to Boma breakfast and Whispering Canyon dinner. I had hopes of attending a SW dessert party, but with so many park days I think it's safe to say we can spend an hour staking out a good location for viewing the projections, so the dessert party is out for now. I also had some thoughts of attempting an EMM at MK if it was available, but I'm also willing to give that up if it means we can be on property by Saturday night. So we're down to 2 ADR's and one MVMCP. Still a good sum of money but not too bad and I think we're picking the best of the things we were considering. The best part is, we can do those 2 ADR's on the Sunday of our room-only stay and not have to worry about buying much else for food that day. Our quick service plan will begin the next day w/ our stay at AoA.

Proposed plan if we can fly down Saturday instead of Monday:
11/26 - arrive at MCO just before 11 pm, check in at Pop Century (2 standard rooms).
11/27 - Late breakfast at Boma, spend time at DS and/or enjoy the pool at Pop, dinner at Whispering Canyon
11/28 - Check out of Pop, walk our bags across the bridge to AoA and check in. If the room is available we'll move in, if not we'll leave our bags with bell services and head out to a park. I'm leaning toward DHS for this day.
11/28-12/7 - AoA w/ free quick service dining.

Things are coming together! I sure hope it all works out. :D

I think we are going with TSMM and just using rider swap for RnR. Soarin does nothing for me, so definitely FEA!!

This sounds like a great plan! If I have any hope of convincing DH that it is worth it to stay at the Poly, I need to build some down time at the resort into our plans. I'm not sure how set DS is on seeing MSEP and Wishes at MK. If he ends up not caring, then we may stay put at CBR on Friday to enjoy the pool. That is, as long as the weather is as nice and warm as it was last year! So here are my current thoughts:

11/25 - arrive at MCO at 4:25, check in at CBR, grab quick service and swim (or activate our tickets early and hit MK for MSEP/Wishes)
11/26 - check into Poly??, rope drop HS in hopes of Jedi TA (unless the boys chicken out), 3:10 Minnie's H&V, Fantasmic or SW fireworks
11/27 - MK, BOG lunch, Crystal Palace dinner, relax at resort after dinner
11/28 - AK morning, Epcot afternoon/evening 4:30 Garden Grill
11/29 - MK, 5:25 Ohana dinner, relax at resort after dinner
11/30 - BOG PPO, MK, ME to MCO at 5:00

Do you think the subscription is worth it? I'm considering a Kenny the Pirate subscription. Anyone have that one?

It absolutely was for us last year. But that was our first trip. Now I can't decide if I really need it. I loved their custom plans though, and think the lines app for wait times and stuff is way more accurate than the Disney app. So I think I'll renew for that alone.

Yep, I love the Lines app! I made touring plans last year but never followed them. I think it seems like they would be most beneficial at MK and maybe HS. Animal Kingdom and Epcot involve so much wandering and exploring, they aren't really conducive to a go-go-go type of plan, kwim? For both, we'll make our fastpasses and have a general plan but probably won't bother with step-by-step instructions.

Another question - 2.5 Year old on plane - car seat? No carseat? Cares harness?

I'm a safety freak at home (my 2.5 yo is still rear facing and my 7 year old is in a 5 point harness still) but the logistics of car seat on a plane and in the airport and lugging it around make me want to cry. He did great last fall as a lap infant, and I think he might be just fine staying buckled in his seat. But I don't know for sure.

Wwyd?

When we traveled with a 2yo (13 years ago!!!), we were able to strap his carseat to our carryon suitcase which made it much easier to tote it around the airport. I know nothing of these new-fangled "cares" harnesses.
