Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Garden Grill would be a good choice mid day - big meal then, lighter meal before desserts!

Yeah that's a good point. I was really hoping for an early Ohana dinner on this day. I have one for our last day, but it's not convenient with our park plans. If I can score that, then Garden Grill will have to go. It would have to be as close to 3:30pm as possible (earliest dinner at Ohana) because it will be a big meal and don't want it too close to the dessert party.

Good morning! Fastpass strategy question for everyone. I have not been to Disney since they started using this whole FP+ system and I am so unsure about how to use it with park hopping. Let's say I have a FP+ for the Safaris at Animal Kingdom that I secured 60 days in advance, along with two FP+ for other attractions at Animal Kingdom for that same day. Now, let's say I get to the Safaris at my fastpass return window and there is no wait. Can I cancel or modify that fastpass, ride standby and choose an attraction in MK for later that evening if we plan on park hopping? Or do I need to use 3 fastpasses at Animal Kingdom before I can do that? This is all so confusing. I know some people say if you are park hopping to make your FP+ for the second park of the day, but I am too scared not to have any for the first park!

I wasn't even thinking of my FPs for some reason. o_O I got a much later FEA FP than I wanted on 11/30. That pretty much solidifies that I should drop the 4pm BOG that I grabbed a few days ago haha. And Ohana probably wouldn't work, even a 3:30pm ADR and trying to get back before the 5:20pm window might be too risky. But I do have a FEA FP on our last night and I'm not sure we need to ride it twice. I could change this FEA FP to Soarin.... Ugh, so many decisions!

I know you can modify if you arrive and don't need the FP at that time, but I'm not sure about rebooking for later. I *think* you can only have ADR's for one park at a time in MDE, so in your case you would have to use 3 FP in AK before you can book a 4th for MK. I believe the only exception to this is if you book only 1 originally in your first park, then you can book in your 2nd park when you use the 1st.

Paging @Iowamomof4 because I think she knows more about this from reading her previous posts...

If you have another FEA I'd drop this one and swap it for a soarin that works better for your times. Unless you're a huge frozen fan or super nostalgic for maelstrom haha.

Then you could be more flexible with a mealtime before hopping to MK

I do love Frozen, but I've already watched the ride video online and it's not high on the list of those we are looking forward to. I never rode Maelstrom.

I think it is a better idea to change my FP to an earlier Tier 1. We were planning to RD Soarin, but now we could RD FEA if we wanted to. There's still lots of decisions about where to eat lunch/dinner though. I'm still leaning towards Ohana, I think people have talked it up enough that I really want to go there.

sounds like a great plan! :)

And FWIW we loved Ohana enough we are going again this trip! I love everything about the Poly, have since I was a kid. One day we will stay there, but until that happens I'm content visiting and eating there. The food was DELICIOUS and the atmosphere is so fun. If you do get a reservation for that day, make it early enough you aren't still full from the all you can eat food to make the dessert party worth the cost too ;)

Oh yeah, definitely has to be an early dinner. I've also read a few times that they get behind and you could end up waiting a while to be seated, so earlier is better to avoid that too I hope. And I'll keep searching for a BOG/CRT dinner, but for my MVMCP night on 12/1 now.

ok soooo I just booked the Wishes Fireworks dessert party with plaza viewing on 11/30

My thinking is that that day we are planning to start at DHS, hop to Epcot for a 1:30 FEA FP and a 3:20 Teppan Edo dinner, then were going to hop to MK for nighttime. Crazy busy day. This way we have a reserved spot for the fireworks that will hopefully not be insanely crowded...

@BDFmom did I remember that you are doing the dessert party that night? And maybe @JamieOak ??

I think I may surprise even DH with this one...so he can't talk me out of it :rotfl:

Hey, my kids have their FEA fastpass at 1:35 that day! :D

Find the "Everything FP+ thread" or something along those lines and you'll get answers to all of your questions. There is even a thread about FP strategies for visiting more than one park in a day that is immensely helpful for this question. The short answer is, you CAN make just 1 FP in park #1, then as soon as you tap your magicband to redeem that fastpass you can immediately hop on the MDE app and make your remaining 2 fastpasses in park #2. However, I think you have to have only made one fastpass. I don't think you can, at that point, cancel those other 2 fastpasses (if you had made them in park #1) and immediately book them for park #2. That's where I get fuzzy. I'll go grab a link to the two threads I'm talking about and come back and put them on this post.

Here's the one that will be most helpful for your specific question: http://www.disboards.com/threads/fp...rk-hopping-additional-tier-1-booking.3538258/

I'm thinking of getting rid of my FEA FP at 4:20pm that day. I know you have a weird FP situation. Would mine help you out at all?

Yes, it would! Dh and I have our FEA fastpasses at 8:10 currently, which is WAAAY late. I'd love it if we could move them up a bit (4 hours -- that's a big help!). Let me know if you end up canceling and maybe I can pick them up! Thank you!! :disrocks:

Well it took me 30 minutes, but I got the Wishes fireworks party booked on 11/30 with plaza garden viewing. The CM kept telling me no availability but we figured out he was looking under the holiday fireworks dessert party. Oops. This is one of the bummers about paying with gift cards is that you have to call to book things that require pre-paying.

OK I'm definitely leaning towards changing it, but would like to get my dining figured out. I'll definitely let you know first though.
