We are thinking of going to WDW from Nov 26th - Dec. 2/06 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) and wondered what the crowds might be like? If anyone has been there after Thanksgiving, I would really appreciate hearing about it. Last year we went the first week of December and it was great, although the parks got busy as the week went on with the Pop Warner kids.

Also, has anyone found that flight prices are higher because of Thanksgiving if we were to leave on the Sunday following?

We have gone to Disney the week after Thanksgiving a couple of times. After Sunday, the crowds thin out. If you do Mickey's Christmas Party, Sunday is BUSY!! Also to warn you..the Sunday after Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year at airports. We have found the best flight rates were for the day after Thanksgiving, and that is when all the Christmas activities go into full force. If you have never been there at that Christmas time you will love it!! It's magical. Tracey

We have our tickiets for the Monday after - we didn't want to run into Sunday - returning home after the holidays traffic - I guess it just depends on if you can book flights you like at a decent price for Sunday. We've been in Oct. but never this late in the year - we're just hoping that it will still feel like a WDW vacation (not freezing).

We did the week after Thanksgiving this past year and found the crowds to be low. We were able to do everything we wanted and have time to spare. The airports were crowded though. And the flight cost were expensive. We flew out of LAX into MCO on an overnight flight on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The flight was full. We were glad we did it that way though. And we would definately consider doing that week again. But maybe flying into MCO during the week like Monday or Tuesday instead.

We will be there the same time as you, only we are getting in on Wed. Nov. 29th and leaving Wed. Dec. 6th. We were there 2 years ago the week after Thanksgiving and it was great. The weather was perfect and all the Christmas stuff was going on. We never waited more than 10 minutes for anything and many rides were walk-ons with no wait.

The only reason we are going on Wed this year is beacuse the rates were cheaper to fly mid week, but that mean my DD will miss 6 days of school rather than 5. Oh well, this is probably our last Disney trip during the school year so I'm going to make it the best.

Where are you staying? We are at Pop Century, unless I can find a good deal in a few months, then we will bump up to CSR. Our last trip we were booked for CBR and I decided I didn't want to stay there, so I called to change and got AKL for only $150 more total. Couldn't pass that up! It was great!
Have a great trip, and pray for good weather again!!

We went last year too. We left on Thanksgiving morning and returned the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. We found that the ride lines went down starting Sunday afternoon. The temperatures were comfortable for shorts at the park but we only went swimming one day. We only waited a looooong time for Soaring but everything else we pretty much just walked on.

Thanks for the posts. It sounds like crowd level wise it's a good week to go, but I hadn't thought of the airfare being high. We have to return home no later than Dec. 3, so if we wait to travel on the Monday or Tuesday it will make for a short vacation. We were hoping to get a Ding fare for Buffalo to MCO - last December we only paid $388 total for 4 of us.

We are planning on staying at CSR. We stayed there last year and LOVED it (although not the Pepper Market so much). We wanted to just hang out at the resort on the Sunday and then hit the parks on the Monday after Thanksgiving. I guess my only concern is the price of airfare. If it's too much, than my DH will not agree to go to WDW.

Well, here's hopin' that I can find a good deal. Thanks for all of your input.

We went December 2 through December 10th and it was lovely! everything is decorated for the Christmas season and you just get that holiday feeling! The temps were nice enough to take a dip in a heated pool but be prepared for a little bit of rain. HAVE FUN! Helen

We are planning to go the same time Nov26-Dec2 and I am concerned about the cost of airfare also. I have heard that this is one of the best times to go as far as not being busy etc. I am hoping to get good fares from Ding or Airtran but if not, I think we may fly in on Monday - it's a little shorter but we are also going in August (couldn't pass up the Free Dining) so we can make do.

Starting the week after Thanksgiving, the crowds seem to drop off, but only for a few weeks until Christmas week. DW and I are booked Dec. 3 - 13, this will be the 3rd yr we have done the first week in Dec and really love the weather, crowds, and decorations. Seems you can make your way to all the attractions without too much fuss and waiting.; same goes for the ADR's; never a problem getting into your favorite eatery.

I GO RIGHT AFTER THANKSGIVING EVERY YEAR AS WELL. IT IS GREAT, BY MONDAY THE CROWDS THIN OUT. WEATHER IS IFFY SOMETIMES.IM GOING NOV 30-DEC 10TH THIS YEARS AND HAVE HAD ALOT OF DIFFICULTY FINDING AIRLINES WITHOUT HIGH FARES FROM BOSTON, DELTA WA UP TO 1000 DOLLARS A PERSON, BUT NOW IS DOWN TO 287 EACH. YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST THERES NOTHING LIKE IT. :goofy:

We've been to Disney at different times of the year and this is by far our favorite time to be in Disney. First, by Sunday the lines are down to 10-15 minute waits (if that). Secondly, you get to see Disney all decorated for Christmas. This will definitely put you in the Christmas mood.

Enjoy!

Since I am planning a trip to WDW at the same time, I'm interested in this thread. So ... BUMP.

Wow! I was checking out flight prices and they are so expensive for this time. Has anyone found a good rate for the Sunday or Monday after Thanksgiving in the past?

Hi! :wave2: We are going the same time! 11/26 to 12/3 at POR and MVMCP on 11/30.

I booked my airfare from ORD to MCO about 2 months ago. I checked every day, 3 times a day (yes I am obsessive! :thumbsup2 ) and got $262 pp nonstop rt including fees on Ted. Our same flight is now $433pp :sad2:

We are hoping the crodws will be low and the weather nice, but I am so excited to be at WDW at Christmastime that I really don't care!! :woohoo:

Sounds like a great time of year to go!! I will be down there 11/20-11/29. The only thing is the airfare!! :sad1:
