Hi everyone. We're arriving on 1/16, the Tuesday after MLK. Any thoughts on crowds that week? I'm pumped, regardless. Also trying to figure out how to pack. Layers seem to be the way to go...

I typically travel that week and I don’t find it to be particularly busy. It’s not a major travel holiday weekend to WDW in my experience.

It’s difficult to predict. I have visited that week for many years. Some years are busier than others, but even with it being the first week of the Festival of the Arts I am not expecting it to be too bad (I will be there that week as well).

As far as what to pack, it is too early to know. Florida winters depend a lot on how bad the winter weather is in the rest of the country. The last few years have been milder in January. What I do is pack short sleeve shirts, long pants, and two jackets that I can wear individually or wear together if a really cold snap comes through. You should be able to get a better idea a week or two prior to arrival so you can finalize your packing list. I was at WDW last week, and the temperatures ranged from the mid 40’s to the mid 80’s. I wore a heavy jacket Tuesday, a light jacket Wednesday, and a short sleeve shirt with no jacket on Thursday. That is pretty typical for January as well.

I’ll chime in on the weather as well for MLK week. Both times I’ve been that week (2020 and 2023) it’s been the week that has seen the drop into the 30s as the low. I usually pack layers. Typically if there is a cold snap it’s not for the whole week, it’s a bit like last week was where it will gradually drop over 2-4 days to the low point and then quickly heat back up again. I won’t pack for this year for that week until a day or two before I leave because the weather can be all over the place. I was also at WDW last week and I didn’t pack until the day before I left which I’m glad for because it meant I was able to pack cloths for the 40 degree weather and the 80 degree weather.
