I was surprised to find availability the week after Easter. (This is April school vacation week in our area north of Boston). We were just able to get a studio at BCV. I was also surprised to see that a Boardwalk view studio was available as well. Would have snagged that but was one point shy!!! But I always thought that week was very busy, but perhaps its the week leading up to Easter Sunday that is the very busy week. We always go over April vacation, and have been surprised that it has not been bad. I thought this year would be bad because Easter falls in that week. At any rate, I am very excited for our very first stay at BCV!

Easter week is actually a moderate to almost low DVC demand time (as is week before Easter). Somewhat heavier when Easter is late March/early April. DVC demand (which is actually moderate to low during all spring break weeks) does not follow Disney in general demand and if going Easter week you will find the parks packed.

What is considered "Easter Week" for the crowd calendar, the week leading up to Easter, or the week after?

Not sure which crowd calendar you are viewing but all the ones I am aware of consider Easter week to be the one that begins with Easter but both the week before and of Easter are usually your second and third most crowded weeks of the year at the parks (behind Christmas week which is number 1). When Easter is in third week of April like next year, you will usually find that the crowd is somewhat less than when Easter is last week of March or first week of April. Those two weeks are the more common school break weeks for schools that don't follow having spring break always the week before or of Easter. Thus, you get a double whammy during those late March/early April weeks. Nevertheless, regardless of when Easter falls, the week before and of Easter will be very crowded in the parks.

Schools do it all differently, in NYS Easter Break is the week before Easter with school starting back up the Tuesday after Easter.

In MA we don't get Easter break, we have the week in April that has Patriot's Day in it. Patriot's Day is always the 3rd Monday in April. Sometimes it is the same time as Easter, sometimes not.

Yes, we're in MA too, but next year, Easter falls the Sunday before Patriot's Day. So our April vacation coincides with the Easter crowds. That's not always the case. Oh well, we're still going, crowds and all!

fortunately, your break is the week after easter; the week leading up to it (4/13-20) has a lot less availability. there have been no BWV BW view studios for months (BCV still has a few of the nights available).

we are planning a vacation 4/27-5/7 (using BCV points, and not-so-patiently waiting for 9/27 to book;)), so have been stalking the website since last may (saving our coveted BWV points for the F&WF where 11 month booking is a necessity).

congrats on getting your reservation :thumbsup2

We're going Patriot's Day week, too, going down on Tuesday the 22nd. Got a BLT studio lake view (standard view wasn't available for all nights) and a BWV one-bedroom standard view. From reading the posts it looks like a lot of schools have the week leading up to Easter off this year, because Easter falls so late. I'm hoping the parks aren't too crazy!!

We are overlapping you, just a bit, Panama Canal cruise begins 5/2!:) Trying to save our BCV points. Have booked a 2 bedroom there for part of the time...I think one night on the weekend was 70 points!:sad2: We are waiting for the 7 month time, too! Have booked BLT, standard studio just in case BCV is not available.

ooooh, the cruise sounds sweet!
i also was in a bit of shock when i saw how much a saturday in april was. we usually arrive the first-second week in may (for quite a few years), but our APs expire 5/7/14 this time.
maybe we'll see you there!

We were sold on longer cruises when we did EBTA this May!

I wanted Florida Family to be with us for some time, but after the Sunday we'll be in a studio, we're hoping BCV.

Yes, hope to see you there, where ever you're staying.

OP, thank you for the information!
Just wanted to point out though that if you were one point shy, you could purchase the one point (rent it) right through Disney and get the BW that you wanted!

We went in 2011 when MA Spring Break fell the week before Easter. It was certainly crowded but we managed. Getting to the park early was the key.

We had no issues adding a studio to our reservation at Kidani very shortly before our trip. I think the high point values for those 2 weeks around Easter probably make it a less desirable time for DVC. In fact, we are planning another big trip for 2014 but have opted to NOT go during April vacation because our points will go farther and we can stay longer in June.

Yes they are high. We are in NH and our April vacation is always the 3rd week of April. It was quite the shock to see the point cost for our normal 1 bedroom that week following Easter :scared1: Had to book a studio instead. The low time for DVC was a relief when we easily switched at 7 months from BCV to VWL to be near friends.

I was positively shocked to look and find availability at Aulani for the week BEFORE (to include) Easter. Almost booked it but checked airfares first and nearly choked. We'll wait for summer when we have more time to spend while there....and the points will be less.

We have gone for Easter over the years, most recent in 2012. I don't find that time any busier than early summer. Crowds yes but very very manageable.

Christmas on the other hand was absurd. Never again.

We have never been during Easter or Spring Break - but are going March 15-20. Hoping it won't be too crazy with college break then!!! Still looking forward to getting to experience F & G for the first time.
