Cast Of Characters
DH - Rick (49) - Driver and chief worrier
DW - Julia (42) - Co-Pilot and wanderer (where is your mum?)
DS - Matt (15) - Chief Babe Spotter
DD - Nicole (13) - Disney "wannabee Animator"
This is our 12th visit as a family and first time to Cypress Pointe.
We have surprised the kids twice before but this time is definitely the biggest yet (Suprise will be revealed on Trip Report for Aug/19th).
Day 1 - Aug/10
Alarm goes off at 5-45am and everyone is up,washed and dressed.(wish it was this easy on school days!)
DW is watching CNN drinking her coffee and hears about the foiled terror plot in U.K.
Limo arrives at 6-15am and we're off to Toronto Pearson Airport (DS is already impressed by the stretch limo). Driver was really pleasant and traffic was surprisingly light. We arrive at the airport at 6-55am.
First in line at the Westjet Airline check-in .The rep is very nice and opens the counter early to check us in giving us great seats at the front of the plane.(When we asked her about the folied plot in U.K. ...she has no idea that it had even happened!). There is no line up at customs (we can clear US Customs in Canada) or security and get through faster than ever before (no checking shoes ,liquids or anything). We grab some breakfast and have a seat in the departure lounge. At 8-30am an announcement is made regarding tighter security where no liquids of any kind or electronics could be packed in the carry-ons.Plane departed at 10-40am (2 hrs and 13mins flying time).
When we arrived it was a beautiful day in Orlando and we agreed that we are "Home". Our cases came down the carousel quickly and within a few minutes we were in the Alamo pick up area to choose our Med SUV. We chose a real nice Kia Sorento. Once again we dealt with a real nice guy at the Alamo check-out area (much to our surprise!).major pixie dust all around us ....so far!
We arrived at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas at 2-15pm.
DH goes into get our reservation...only to find there is no reservation !
He pulls out his trusty email confirmation document from HotelKingdom.com and shows it to the front desk folk. A few phone calls later and we are in a beautiful room at 3pm. Unfortunately...we are not alone because there are 3 workmen working on installing a new ceiling fan in the master bedroom. 15 minutes later and after many apologies the work is done and we can then begin to unpack. We are very impressed by the 2 bedroom,2 bathroom unit and can't wait to explore more of the resort.
After completing the unpacking we head off to Walmart on 535 to pick up groceries. $115 later we get back to the villa and chow down on chicken wings, wedges and bread and butter.
The family heads down to the pool (1 of 3 in the complex) at 7pm and have a refreshing swim in the quiet pool.
DW wants to head back up to the room at 8pm to see Big Brother.
Showers all around
Tomorrow off to Epcot.
