Hi there,
My husband I just had our wedding on the Magic. We had called and booked it, and after a few months of dealing with their wedding consultant, we started having second thoughts. This person took forever to get back to us on the simplest of questions and only gave half answers. It was frustrating, but we really wanted the
Disney Cruise wedding so we just kept pushing through it all. Then, just before we left, they had a new person take over (temporarily) for the other girl and she was AMAZING to work with. It really all depends on who you get.
Once we got on the ship, we were treated like royalty. The Wedding Coordinator that we had, Johnathan, was just super! And the overall experience was magical, intimate, and memorable. I can't even think about our trip without wanting to shed a tear, it makes me so happy. If your thinking of doing it - do it - you won't ever regret it.
If you haven't called yet to speak to one of their consultants, I should tell you 1 thing that I never heard of before regarding cruise ship weddings: because they cannot legally marry you in "international waters" - on the Saturday that you board, they take you back off the ship and do a "legal" wedding ceremony at the port. Then they bring you back on the ship. Then you just proceed forward with your "actual wedding". When we heard this, we decided to have our "legal" wedding at home so that a few friends could witness it; we didn't get dressed up, exchange rings, take many pictures or have a wedding night - we saved all that as we wanted it to be very "legal" and non memorable. I can't even remember the date we did it on - as we only want to remember our wedding on the cruise ship as our 1 and only wedding anniversary. Anyway, then we called Disney back and changed our "wedding" package to a "vow renewal" package which is EXACTLY the same in EVERY way except that you save over $1000 (for the $1000 they charge you they pick up your Florida marriage licence and do the legal ceremony when we paid under $200 at home for that). Then tell the wedding coordinator on the ship when you get on that you want the captain the read the "wedding" ceremony (which consitutes 1 small change in his opening line).
I hope this helps. My husband, U2FANHFX, is also on the boards and I think he posted some of our pics here. If you have any questions, or can't find our pictures, just let me know
