rob and i are having trouble picking a wedding song. can you guys please help us!!!!

You know, I wish I could help you, but I'm experiencing the same problem too! It's a lot more difficult than you would think it to be!
And to answer your question in your signature..... I was on my computer at home when the lights went out. I thought my computer was fried!

sorry to hear that we're in the same boat there, peanut. you didn't have to answer my silly question about the black out though. hehe. a lot of people were saying that shortly after the black out so i thought i would add it to my signature.

Do you mean your first dance song ?

We have one song that means a lot to us and we may use that but to be honest we're notsure yet either and my FH cannot dance very well at all so I see us having to go to some classes.

When we received our wedding planning book it had lists of songs that were favorites for first dances, both with your new DH and Dad/Father-in-Law... A couple of my favorites - some are probably done to death - but still favorites:

Everything I do I do for you, Brian Adams (from Robin Hood)
Wonderful Tonight, Eric Clapton
True Companion, Marc Cohen (really beautiful words)
So This is Love, from Cinderella
Any other Disney love song...

For Dads...
Time After Time, Cyndi Lauper
Somewhere Out There, from An American Tale

We danced to "Amazed" by Lonestar as our first dance. (very popular years ago as a wedding song, and I've always loved this song)

also - "Melt" by Rascal Flatts is nice too. (again - if you like country)

our DJ played alot of Disney music at our wedding. when the servers came out to start the meal, he played "Be our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast...my mom was shocked...she thought it was the cutest thing ever. Plus, for 'dinner music' instead of playing jazz or soft music, he played romantic songs from Disney movies. It was really sweet.

I know this might sound a little cutsey, but I've always thought the orchestral segment of Bella Notte was really beautiful. It's a great romantic slow song to dance to, very intimate, not as glamorous or well known, but once you get past Tony's singing it's very sweeping with its own small chorus.

I don't drop by this board too often, since I'm not planning a Disney wedding, but sometimes it's really great to read this posts. What a great place to get married!!!!

Our song is going to be "Love of my life" by Michael W. Smith, its an absolutely beautiful song. Check it out if you are still looking! Good luck with your choices :)

That is going to be our song too!!! Only thing is i found a version of it on line, sung by Clay Aiken. We really like him and he souns so good singing it!!! I didn't think any one else even knew that song existed:wave:

What a GREAT song, Good choice::yes::

Thanks! I have to try not to cry when I hear it. It is actually on the cd of the guy who does the piano of the song, Jim Brickman and the album name is 'Destiny'.

Good luck and best wishes for your wedding :wave2:

i found this helpful website earlier today.

www.weddingtips.com

it has a nice list of wedding songs for first dance, mother and son, father and daughter, garter belt, bouquet toss, etc. it's quite helpful. i still haven't found the perfect song yet.

Great site Tinkerbela thanks for sharing.

I was gonna have my brother (he's giving me away) and I dance to Wind Beneath My Wings - but I heard it in the car the other day and had to pull over as I was crying so much - I think I need to find a different song for us ;)

Here is another site that you can go to for a list of wedding songs
http://www.wedalert.com/songs/index.shtml
All you need to do is click on the category you want to the left (ceremony/cocktail hour, couples first dance, father and daughter ect.) and it will bring you a huge list of songs for each.

thanks for the site. it'll be helpful to us.

Fantasia Sam- His name was Chuck from Disney Entertainment however I must say in the video it seems everything was great but in fact I had some disappointment with him but was not going to let these things ruin my day. The things that disappointed me a little was the song that I chose for my fathers dance, he stopped the song before it was over. I asked for him to bring stuff like hoola hoops and play guitars and instruments for the children and he forgot them, and we asked for the lighting package as well with cinderellas castle to light up on the wall and he stated he forgot that as well. One last thing about Chuck was he didnt know many oldies my parents and guest were from like a lot of oldie songs and I had stated this to him so that he could be prepared. So when my mom asked for several songs he claimed he had never heard of them. Other than those things I would say everything went well. I just wish he was a little more outgoing and better organized to what I wanted. But like I said and as you can probably see from my video this DID NOT RUIN MY DAY!!!
If you are having hair done by Disney ask for Irene. She is in her mid-late 30's and if an Italian from NY. OMG she is sooooo funny and awesome!! She made me so relaxed and my face hurt so much from laughing the whole time from all the stories she was telling us. Plus with her NY accent omg and being Italian it just topped it right off. I will never ever forget her. Amazing my hair lasted me from 8am to 11 pm and it could of went longer. You just need to tell her exactly what you want.
If there is anything else or any other names please dont hesitate to ask. I lLOVE talking about my wedding day expierences.

Finding a wedding song was really hard for us too, as there were quite a few that we loved. The ones we chose between were:

"I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingos (kinda wish we'd gone with this)
"Longer" by Dan Fogelberg (had an acoustic guitar play it as I came down the aisle instead)
"I Love You (For Sentimental Reasons)" by Nat King Cole

We finally chose "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds, which is an unbelievably gorgeous song -- it's just him and his piano. Here are the words:

I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here

And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?

And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you

Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away

I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

Unfortunately, the CD that the song was on wouldn't play during the reception (it played just fine on the car stereo on our way to the hotel that night... ) so we ended up dancing to a classical song, "Gymnopaedie #1" by Erik Satie. It was very pretty, but I was sad that our guests didn't get to hear the gorgeous song we'd chosen. Ah well.
