Wedding room blocks question? AOA?

We are thinking to do a wishes wedding, we know you pick 2-3 hotels for the room blocks but most of everyone we are inviting want to stay at AOA. As I know AOA is never included in discounts, is AOA an option to have a room block at for the values? For a wishes wedding?

If so what type of discount is it exactly. We are planning for an Sept/Oct wishes wedding.

Orginally was going to rent houses offsite to save but it looks like we would be charged a fee if we don't stay onsite and still have the wedding. Which would kind of nix the savings we were trying to have.

Any advice helps :)

Surly I cant be the only person to want to use AOA as a room block option lol...... has anyone done this? Please help.

I'm almost certain I've read you can't block AOA - that's why people don't tend to use it. I don't believe Disney offers room discounts on it (or if they do, it's only the suites, just like with AP/other discounts - and then you might as well block a moderate) because it's the newest value and still popular.

If you're in touch with DFTW yet, I would ask them directly, but I'm about 99% certain that AOA can't be blocked.

Thank you so much for your response! That's what I was assuming, bummer, thanks for clearing that up though :)

I looked back at my room block sheet, and AOA was not an option. You might be able to talk to them and get a block there but it wouldn't be discounted, I'm not sure.

Depending on value or peak season there are different hotels on you room block sheet but AOA is not on there for any of them.

I'm going to jump in here with a different room block question. Is Port Orleans French Quarter (during the first part of December) an option? Thanks in advance (and sorry for hijacking your thread).

Every Disney resort is always an option except Disney Vacation Club villas and Art of Animation.

lurkyloo is spot on, AOA is never an option for wedding room block. Does anyone know what the discount is for a moderate resort? trying to decide if we want to book with the room block discount or book thru DVC. Thank in advance

I'm not sure what the percentage is but I can tell you no one from my wedding booked directly into the block as the general discount and the AP discount offered on both the deluxes and the moderates for late August were a higher percentage than the room block discount.

The amount of the discount varies by season, but in general, you only save 15% or less on Moderates via Disney wedding room blocks.

I can let you know the prices I was quoted for summer 2016 if that helps? They were sent to me at the star of June.

I would appreciate that information if you don't mind sharing. I need to book for Oct 2015 and hoping for a discount.
Thanks so much!

Thank you @lurkyloo I remember that might be what they offered our guest in 2011. You helped tremendously 4 yrs ago when we were in a race to get my daughters license, I can't thank you enough.

Bear in mind these are the "Early Summer 2016" prices, so they might be different in October but here goes. I've put them in price order for you.

All stars, all $120. Pop $129. Caribbean $168. Coronado $172. Port Orleans, both $176. Contemporary, garden wing room $277. Wilderness Lode $292. Yacht Club, Beach Club $297. Boardwalk $314. Polynesian $423. Grand Floridian $433. Animal Kingdom, savannah view rom $436.

For the room block, you can choose any three resorts. It starts 5 nights before the wedding, and runs 5 night alter. So for eg, our wedding is June 2nd. The room block form starts May 28th, and the last night is June 6th.

Just wanted to clarify that you can actually add up to 5 resorts, but it isn't really promoted (one reason is that the more spread out your guests are, the more transportation you'll need for them, if you're providing it). You can also extend the block for about 2 weeks on either side of your event. We used these two options in combination to get discounts on our hotel-hopping honeymoon well after our wedding.
