Hello everyone! I would like your honest opinion. Can you please go to http://www.littmanjewelers.com go to Engagement & Wedding jewelery, then to wedding sets, it's the last one in the second colum on the first page. it's called Diamond Wedding Set.

Thanks,
Jessica

Wow, its very sparkly!!

Its a bit too flash for me, but thats just me, it really does depend on what your personal preferences are Jessica.

Its very beautiful though.

lisa, i know. it's very flashy. thats my only concern. i am in love with the ring. i just don't know if its too much flash you know? i mean ill be wearing it the rest of my life! but it's so pretty. my fiance said if i love it then its mine.

thanks,
jessica

Jessica - Have you actually tried the ring on? If you haven't tried it on yet, I say go to the store and try it on, and then see how you feel about it. You may find that you love all the flash and sparkle, or you may find that its just to much for you. If you have tried it on and still love it, then I say get it.

Ohhhh, I loooove looking at rings!!! One thing to keep in mind with a curved wedding band such as the one you're talking about is that it might look a little funky if you wear it without the engagement ring. I personally look forward to wearing my wedding band by itself on some days when I don't want to wear my solitaire for one reason or another, so I'm going to get a band that is not curved (so it will look good by itself).

Also, I'm not sure if this bothers you or not, but the clarity of the diamond in the ring you're talking about is an I1...this means that you WILL be able to see the inclusions with your naked eye. Also, the color is I-J....with a princess cut stone, this means that it will definitely have a twinge of very light yellow. This is a very personal thing, some people are totally fine with I1's....you really have to look at the diamonds in person to decide what you want. As a general rule of thumb, diamonds that are sold at "mall jewelers" are typically of lesser quality (but with higher pricetags) than of those sold elsewhere, such as Internet vendors (superbcert.com and whiteflash.com are excellent and their prices cannot be beat)....I could talk about diamonds all day, lol.

I don't mean to bore you, I just want to make sure you're making an informed purchase about this very special ring :)

You know what since plannig a Disney wedding and mixing with lots of Americans whilst planning my wedding I sooo fell in love with the wedding & engagement ring sets.

I would never have even considered a jewelled wedding ring if it weren't for seeing all the ones on the American jewelry sites.

I love having a bit of flash, albeit more conservative than the one you have chosen, on my wedding finger.

I think they look lovely and I'm always peeking a look at other people's wedding fingers whilst standing in line for rides at Disney and the one you have picked is a beauty.

I'm with Helen - you need to try it on and if you're still in love with it - go for it - who cares what anyone else thinks, if you love it, regardless of how flash it is then go with it.

But I am with Jenn (Snow_White) on the clarity and color. I was very very lucky with mine and got D's for all my diamonds and I really love the whiteness of the stones and how they sparkle. Inclusions aren't such a big deal on the smaller stones but you do need to check them on the bigger stone.

All of that said your chosen ring is very pretty :D

Sam, that is so interesting...do most people in England just wear regular bands rather than diamond rings?

Jenn

My engagement ring is the standard diamond solitaire. We've been looking at wedding rings, and I think the ones we'll get getting will have just 2 small diamonds. When it's paired with the solitaire, you get 2 smaller circles on top of 1 larger one - a perfect Mickey!

I agree, I think you should try it on first. Sometimes rings just dont look nice on the finger as they do in pictures however I might add that I LOVE THAT RING. It is soo different, and I love the fact that it is princess cut. I say go find a jeweler that has it in stock try it on and if it looks good, GET IT!!!
I LIKE FLASHY:earseek: :wizard:

ellieb-
i love different things too. i guess thats why i'm sooo in love! i like things other people don't. i don't like to be like everyone else. i was starting to think that maybe it is to flashy but hey, i need a little bling too!

jess

Oh no sister, that is a LOT of bling-bling! Somehow I don't think the picture is doing the setting justice. I'm trying to picture it in my minds eye and I think it's more stunning than the picture shows. Do go find it and look at it on your hand before you commit. You'd be surprised what you do and don't like once it's actually on your hand.

Hi Jessica,

OK, It looks like a truly beautiful ring. I have a few suggestions that you might not like...

Color-I This is a little low for White Gold. you might be able to see some color in the stones.

Clarity-I1 In the size of diamonds that are in the ring, the cracks should not be too visible. It would annoy me, but most people won't notice them. I would push for a little better quality in the center stone; you are paying retail.

What concerns me is the quality of the mounting, and the durability of the setting.

If you "Aggressively Wear" your jewelry, you will start loosing diamonds out of the setting quickly. It looks like most of the diamonds are set with beads, It doesn't look like there are prongs holding the diamonds in. This means that there is very little metal holding the stones in. normally, when we make a ring like this we do it in Platinum which wears a lot better (and costs a lot more).

I would also be concerned about the general workmanship of the ring, and the cut of the diamonds.

I would definitely make sure you can send it back, and would also make sure you have a local jeweler (hopefully an AGS member) inspect the ring.

OK, here is the part where I rant about buying important stuff over the internet... How much is it worth to you to have someone local responsible for taking care of the ring... when you loose a stone, need it sized, want it cleaned? A lot of "Brick-and Mortar jewelry shops won't touch anything from the internet.. "Smart People" have said that "they can't tell, Jewelry is jewelry". This is not the case, much of the jewelry purchased over the internet comes from the far east, and the quality of workmanship is extremely sub-standard. Even if a local jeweler buys jewelry from the far east, they inspect it and make sure that it is close to what you ordered. When dealing with a web/mail order company, you can't look them in the face and ask whether or not it will hold up. there is not necessarily the accountablity....

All this is leading up to... you are not really getting a discount off of what it should cost you given the specifications. I would find a small jeweler (in a strip center not a mall) who has been there for several years) maybe even one who is a member of AGS (American Gem Society) and see what they have... Again, how much is it worth to you to have someone to talk to if you have a problem with something this important...

OK, so in case you haven't figured it out I work for a jewelry manufacturer and wholesaler, I see lots of poorly made jewelry, and part of my job is not to let anything poorly made get into our stock. I am a graduate gemologist, and have been in this business for over 30 years. and yes, I love WDW...

Sorry for the long post, I want to help... If a client comes in to one of our stores when I am working, and they have a ring like this one, I usually tell them it is beautiful (but we won't touch it)

I will urge caution since you haven't bought it yet...

ohanafamily- OMG you sound just like my husband:duck:
In a good way though. When he buys me diamonds they must be of the best quality. It MUST be either FL-IF, WS1-2 or VS1-2 for him to even take a look at it. If its not then he feels its not even worth looking at.
To me however I come from a very very poor family growning up so I always tell him, that I never knew how to tell a quality of a diamond until I met him and to tell you the truth when looking at one on someones ring I dont look at the quality of the diamond because many times the flaws can not be seen with the naked eye however I look at the uniqueness of ones diamond, and maybe the size if it jumps out at me. :earseek:
I must note however that I do agree with you on the setting. I had a sapphire ring at one time set with beads and I am rough with my hands and wore the ring always. To make a long story short, I had the ring for about 9 months and one day looked at my finger in car pool line at school to find my sapphire was gone. I have never purchased a setting like this again. Not to mention that my husband kept saying " I TOLD YOU SO"
The bad part about this story is that now when I go to buy purses my husband almost has a heart attack:scared1:
Why you ask????? Well I like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada and Burberry and although they sell the fake I will not hear of it. WHY, because it is like a diamond the quality of the real ones are made better and if made better they last longer:teeth: :p :rolleyes1

THANK YOU HUSBAND!!!

Yes I am spoiled!! NOW!!

ellieb Hi!!!!

It may not be too obvious from my previous post, but I am in the jewelry business and for a time was in charge of our manufacturing shop. In that setting, an I1 is not unreasonable for the quality. My comment was mainly to try for a little better quality in the center diamond, Especially since you are paying for it. Additionally, I was trying to say that the way the diamonds are set in that mounting will mean that she wil probably be replacing stones in it. It is much easier to work with a local jeweler than an internet company. I apologize for any lack of clarity.....I try not to make people cry when I tell them of potential problems with a piece of jewelry.....
