Ok so here is the story. . . 10 yrs ago October 11 1996 my husband and I got married, we were too poor to get our rings inscribed, I was thinking is it lame to surprise him for our ten year and get it inscribed? He has a small nick in it and I told him it was bothering me so I wanted to get it fixed, is this lame? Is it a good idea? Any ideas on what to get inscribed? And yes for you 7th heaven fans, I got the idea las night.
I was thinking about something like 2 bodies, 1 heart, or something like that, we have been together since high school.

Ours are inscribed.

Mine: "DH initials" to "my initials" and our wedding date.

DH: Same but reversed.

ETA: Stupid enter button!

I do not think it is lame to inscribe your wedding bands. It is just as special 10 yrs later. Happy Anniversary.

I think it is a great idea.

DH & I had ours' engraved when we first got married.

They say:

Thee I choose <wedding date>

I think it is a wonderfully sweet idea.

I think it's a great idea!!! Ours just says our initials & the date. Although for some reason it's worn down a little bit and a little harder to read now. And it's only been 7 years of wearing them! I also think taking the ring to have it fixed is a good excuse!

I put the verse from our wedding in DH's...except I screwed up and put the wrong chapter, resulting in it being a verse about fornication...Ugh. I need to get that fixed I suppose. I like using something that means something to you though, like something from a verse or reading at your wedding.

Since a ring doesn't have a beginning or an end how about something like...Our love is endless.

I love it.. what about something like "yesterday, today and tomorrow."

My DH signs every card to me that way and my wedding band has YTT, Love Patrick and our wedding date 10/12/1996.

Happy 10 years to you also!!! I think it is a wonderful idea!

No, I don't think it is lame at all. When SO adopted my dd this past January, he gave her a ring that was inscribed "From My Soul" on the inside. She never takes it off.

I think the inscription is a great gift on an anniversary! When DH and I were married, my band could not be engraved as it was too narrow and was custom made to match the band style on my engagement ring. So on our first anniversary DH gave me a second band, a plain very simple one that I could wear when I couldn't wear my engagement ring. He had it inscribed..."My wife - my life" and our wedding date. Now, I could and did have DH's wedding band engraved when we married. Since he's a math teacher, we've always used the math symbol for infinity when we left a note..."love you for infinity", which is what I had inscribed in his band and our wedding date.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

I think it's a wonderful idea!!

We had ours engraved when we got married - mine says "All My Love 10-11-97" and his says "I Love You 10-11-97"

(What can I say? I was going for simplicity, not originality... :teeth: )

And OP - what a magnificent anniversary date you have!! You both have exactly one year on us.

I think its a great idea!

Mine says "My love is forever" with our wedding date and dh's says " You found a way to my heart" it in reference to our song. Find a way to my heart by Phil Collins.

OT- As an adopted mom, I love this. Thank you so much for sharing it, it made my night.

TO the OP- I think that is a wonderful idea. Mine and DH are a little cheesy, but they mean sometime to us. When we dated and even now whenever he would say goodbye to me he would always say, "Forever" instead of I Love You or Goodbye. So both our rings have that inscribed in it (which was a surprise to both of us). Find something that has special meaning to either him or both of you.

I think it's a great idea! Just as special now as 10 years ago.

I suprised DH by having "The One Ring" engraved in his. He likes The Lord of the Rings and he always asked if when we got married if he could have the one ring. So I gave it to him.:rotfl2:

My husband and I have a little joke between us. Everytime we have to make an important decision we "pinky swear" on it.

So we both have pinky swear inscribed in ours.

I think that it is a sweet idea. My DH's ring has "All my Life" inscribed on the inside. This expressed the sentiments for our marriage and was the song we danced to.

"Vous et nul autre"
means You and no other (French?)
Actual inscribed ring on the outside of the band in a museum in Oxford, England
This ring is from the 1500's.

My DH and I signed this greeting in our many love letters while I was a student there in Oxford and he in Texas (long before we married).
We were going to have our rings inscribed with it one day.

We have been married over ten years now and still haven't done it. I have had to buy him a new band though. He lost the original at Six Flags.

This anniversary idea has inspired me, hopefully he won't loose it. Thanks!
