Okay, I actually don't know how to fill out this card. I don't want the bride & groom to think I'm an idiot, so I will let anonymous people on the DIS think so! LOL We will be attending the wedding. In addition, there is a luncheon the following day that we will miss. The response card is worded like this:

Ceremony and Reception
Will______ Attend

Afternoon Lunch
Will______ Attend

For the lunch, I can write in "not", but what do I put for the reception?

You can either leave it blank (thereby saying that you "will attend") or you can add a word such as "definitely" (so that it reads "will definitely attend").

It is awkward, isn't it?

:earsboy:

It really is awkward! I almost want to put the thumbs up smiley.

Never saw one worded like that! I would just write "yes" in the first line and "not" in the last line. They should get the gist of it!

It's not worded properly. But usually the blank space is to put the number of people attending. I would do that. No need to look like an idiot. The bride does in this case.

Exactly. The card should have read something like:

Ceremony and Reception
Number of attending guests: ______

Afternoon Lunch
Number of attending guests: ______

Example: DH's parents may come with us to the Ceremony and Reception (4 attending) but DH and I may have to get back for work leaving his folks there to enjoy the luncheon and catch up with old friends and family (2 attending).

The card is worded awkwardly. I agree with putting the word "definitely" in the one you want to attend and suggest using the word "not" for the one you won't be attending. While it wouldn't serve a situation such as my example (and the bride will wind up having to pay for four heads instead of two at the luncheon or vice versa at the reception), you don't really have the choice of putting a number in to make the sentence correct.

Meh. Whattaya gonna do? :confused3

Thanks for the responses! I thought is was just me, but it seems that I'm not the only one who thought the wording was strange.

I agree, it is badly worded... but you could make it cute, and write something like "Will gladly attend", or "Will happily attend"... just a thought.

Just fill in the number attending each event. If no one can attend put a zero in the space.

We sent out similar reply cards:

number attending ______

number not able to attend _______

We got every response card back but one. Sure made planning a lot easier.

My response cards were like this. My funny friends put in the names of famous Wills. "Will Smith Attend." etc.

I got a chuckle out of it. ;)

I added my possible suggestions in red. Very odd wording though! :goodvibes

I would put the number attending each event. Also, make sure your name is somewhere on the card or return envelope. When my DD got married we got some cards back but didn't know who was responding.
