Wedding reception invite

I have no idea.

Interested in finding out what it really means:confused3

Could be that they just want an intimate ceremony but want to celebrate afterwards with lots of people.

My DH's nephew & his wife did that. They invited few people to the ceremony & had a reception that included all their friends & the rest of the family afterwards.

I think I've been invited to reception only a few times. I understand that the couple wants an intimate wedding-private and quiet. There were 22 people at my wedding including the two of us and the minister. We had a party after we got back from our honeymoon. We didn't invite any friends but a few (5)really cherished friends just came anyway, lol! I was touched and loved having them there.

That's great, but I'm sure everyone going to the barbecue knew that it was a party after a wedding. All this time I've been expecting to go to a wedding with reception afterwards. I really hope the person who told me different was wrong.

I think you need to let it go. You have your wedding day and all the trappings just as you want yours and they do that with theirs. Just go and have fun celebrating their joy.

This is a private estate setting, not a church.

One of my friends got married on an large estate and had immediate family only (15 people) at the actual ceremony which took place by a small goldfish pond. Everyone else (200 people) came an hour later for the reception. It was a beautiful event.
