Wedding Reception Decoration - help!

Save the pineapple palm tree for a tropical themed bridal shower or the rehearsal dinner like someone else suggested. I think going with a more classic look is the way to go for the reception.

Instead of lanterns you can drape white lights loosely wrapped in white and/or pool colored tulle up the walls from the corners of the room and loop it across the ceiling to give a romantic feeling to the room. We went to a wedding that did this a few months ago and it was really pretty.

Good luck!

The pineapple palm tree is very cute. I would either save it for a cookout, use it at the rehearsal dinner, or have it set up off to the side with a tropical themed grooms cake.

Maybe set up off to the side with a tropical themed groom's cake is the only way to incorporate it into the reception. Then the bride would still have her palm included. It's crazy how one thing like this can make your mind nutty.

We are still deciding on one of two places for the rehearsal dinner. One is at a local Italian restaurant. The other is here at our house with a Chinese buffet provided by our favorite Chinese restaurant. They will fix everything in big pans and we can bring them home like that and just return their pans. Waiting on word from the bride and groom on which they prefer. I have reserved the Italian restaurant's private room just in case.

I just wanted to say that you sound like a great mother in law. It's very kind of you to get the whole reception together for them like you have. I'm sure it will all turn out wonderfully and I'll bet you will wow them.
