Wedding Questions... Help Please

We've changed our plans so many times in the past 2 months. First we were planning an Escape wedding at SBP, and then we changed to a Wishes wedding at the WP... Now I think we might be going back to the Escape wedding because I think we're going to run into problems booking the minimum rooms..., but I don't know if we should stick to the WP or go back to SBP. I LOVE SBP, but I'm paranoid of being rained out. I do not want to get married in a ballroom!

So anyways, what we've been planning on doing for the past few weeks is the wedding at the WP, and than dinner in the Napa Room at the California Grill, and I really, really, really want a funfetti mad hatter cake. We were planning on only having 30 guests, but if we do the Escape it will obviously be only 18. Would I still be able to have the Napa Room if we're not having a Wishes Wedding??? And can you still pick a different cake? Is the Escape Wedding pretty much cookie cutter and you have no options at all?? I was fine with this originally, but now that I've looked into the wedding options, I think I might have a hard time going back to Escape. Did any Escape brides change anything around in their wedding packages??

I've been talking to my coordinator regarding wishes wedding, but I'm afraid to tell her that I'm thinking of changing to an Escape wedding because I'm not yet to the one year mark... and am I right that you can't book an Escape Wedding at the WP until 8 months?? If so, do you think I should just keep my original request in, and then change to Escape at the 8 month mark before we sign the contract? Would we be able to do that??

One thing to consider is that Disney can be flexible on the room-night minimum. They don't advertise that fact, but I bet they would much rather keep you as a Wishes wedding than lose all that dough over a couple of room nights. So if the only thing keeping you from doing a Wishes is the room block, talk to your Wedding Coordinator about it.


Also...

JaxTeach had an Escape wedding with a reception in the Napa Room, and she had a custom cake. There is a lot you can do to customize the Escape package if you're resourceful.

I am going to have around 35 or so guests and I have to fill 25 room nights. With my room, room for my parents and one for my father in law I already have 21 nights filled. I was worried about it in the beginning. If you don't think you will meet the number I think you can negotiate a lower number of nights for your room block. I have also seen people offering their discount code on here to see if they can get people to fill their block. I think it says on your contract that if you don't meet the number required, you would not get your complimentary night and they would charge you for the lowest price room times the number of rooms that you are short. I asked my coordinator if they have ever had to charge anyone and they said they haven't had to. Do you think that alot of your guests will stay off -property?

I was going to get married at Sea Breeze Point but my father convinced me to change to the wedding pavilion. He was worried about the rain and where the ceremony would take place. I am glad I changed just because I am a worrier and I know I would stress out about it. If you are worried now, I would stick to the WP. I think you can book the WP at 12 months out if you are a Wishes wedding. I know that it was 10 months out when I changed from SBP. I am not sure when you can book it if you are an Escape wedding.

Escape brides cannot have a reception so I don't think you could use the Napa or Sonoma room. You could eat in California Grill if you wanted.

I would contact your coordinator and express your concern about the room block and see what suggestions they offer. Hopefully you can have a Wishes wedding.

Really?? Their flexible about the room minimum??? You've just made my whole day!! I'm definately for the Wishes Wedding because I would hate to cut people out to keep it at 18, but I have alot of family that lives in Florida, some already in Orlando, and I know that some people are planning on stayin with them instead of getting a hotel to save some money... which is great for them but kinda screws us. And I can't tell everyone that they HAVE to stay in Disney!! I will e-mail my coordinator about this.

The only other thing that made us consider the Escape is that my df's family is not too happy with the Disney thing and some are saying that they won't go. So my df doesn't want to have this big wedding, just for my family. Why do people have to be so freakin difficult????

I'm going to have to find JaxTech's pj! Just in case we do have to go with the Escape.

Hi there,

I am an escape wedidng and I booked the private room at V&A on my own. I reached out to CG and was possibly going to book one of their rooms and I never received any pushback. Your coordinator may not be able to do it for you, but you can make the reservation yourself. At least I did not run into any issues.

She had a very plush Escape wedding! Anyone can rent the private rooms at California Grill. They're one of the few reception options open to Escape brides through Disney, and your coordinator can help you with the reservation.

You can change/upgrade almost anything on the escape, for a price. Escape brides have even had Mickey and Minnie and the Carriage. Another option for filling room blocks is to post here if you still need some filled. People are usually happy to help you fill them and appreciate the discount !

As for your df's family, it's their loss if they don't come. No matter what, remember...this day is about you and your df, and no one else ! Good luck with your decision and planning. Can't wait to read all ablout it !

So I e-mailed my coordinator about it and she said the rooms are definately something to be worked out!! Yay! She said that we will just have to let them know at the 8 month mark when we sign the contract how many rooms we plan to be using, and if anyone books over that than they don't get the discount. And we won't get our complimentary room. But at least I know that I won't have to freak out about the room situation!! Thanks ladies!! Now I won't be up all night worrying about who's staying at Disney!!

I wouldnt worry too much! easy for me to say when our block is over the minimum! But I stressed alot- tried to figure out where/when/how many days people were going to stay- and low and behold alot of surprises and we are at more than double what we reserved! We only have 33 guests and 14 of those are children-
