I don't know where else to post this. We will be at the MK in 2 weeks. A family member will be proposing to his girlfriend there. Does Disney help with arrangements for something like this? If so, who or what department would he contact? TIA

There was a recent thread posted on the Disney Weddings and Honeymoons board here on The Dis that discussed various ways to propose at WDW: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3291254&highlight=proposal

I think it all depends on how he's planning on proposing: is he planning on proposing in one of the parks? Is he planning on doing it in front of Cinderella's castle? At dinner? On the beach at the Poly?

Disney Celebrations is probably a good idea for a place to start planning something like this.

I proposed back in May.

My sister is a CM at Disney so I am not sure how much was here asking a favor and how much was standard protocol but she was able to have a Photopass photographer waiting at the spot the proposal went down to catch the moment. I purchased Memory Maker and essentially got professional photographs of the moment.

They also gave use for free matching mouse ear hats to wear and a pin with the date on it to keep.

He wants to propose in front of the castle with the fireworks in the background.

Yikes. That's a very crowded idea. I'd suggest he try it from behind the castle by New Fantasyland instead of the front. There are fireworks that show up over the castle and from behind Fantasyland and he'd be between them.

I know. But I believe he is doing what she would want. I would like to help him out in any way that I can.

Maybe doing it from upstairs at the railroad at the front of the park? That would have the castle and fireworks in full view while not taking away from the more important subjects in the photo and would be easier to coordinate. Would also be easier to skip off to a celebratory drink at a monorail resort (if she says yes).
I know the train doesn't run during the fireworks, but isn't it still open upstairs? I don't really remember.

If he truly wants to do it that way, then he'll just have to be prepared to have no space to get on his knee and it will be pretty dark. I can see why you want to see if there is some way of getting help from WDW for him. Good luck and pixies that all goes well.

I concur. I understand that she may have discussed her dream proposal and he's being sweet and trying to make it come true. Unfortunately, her dream isn't going to play out the way it does in her head. It will be dark, there will be at least six photo bombers in the shot, and in the throngs of people, a photo pass photographer may not even be able to get to you. Maybe a third party could feel her out and try to put the vision of a more realistic proposal in her head?

Get tickets for the Wishes dessert party. It won't be nearly as crowded, but you still get the castle and firework background. Plus he can arrange something with the Photopass photographer working the party long before the fireworks begin.

THIS.

This is where we did our proposal and it was great.

Strongly discourage doing it in front of the castle or else you may have a mob of Brazilian Tourist walking in every picture and making it impossible to hear the words of the proposal.
