In the close where we live (we're at number 3) i've made cakes for most of my neighbours, birthday, christening and wedding and when number 6 have celebrations we're always invited so many of the other neightbours know me that way. Number 2 is getting married in 2 weeks and i'm making their wedding cake for them so they've invited us to their reception.

They are about 28-30 years old and go to things like T in the park and various concerts, have designer clothes and the like but they pretty much keep themselves to themselves. They are fun and we get on really well.

Sarah's a teacher and Lee a driving instructor but I just haven't got a scooby what to buy them.

Any ideas to get the ball rolling would be much appreciated.

I've only been to 2 weddings in my life and one was my own, funnily enough the other was my neighbour at number 5 last year!

It may sound like a 'boring' pressie, but depending on how much you want to spend-how about gift vouchers from places which sell concert/show tickets? If they enjoy them that much,i am sure it would be appreciated. You could always get a bottle of champers to go with it,if you did'nt think it was 'enough'.The only idea i have at the moment.x.

I always give money and let them buy something themselve or a gift voucher
would love to see some photos for your cakes

Well, we went to Robert's auntie's wedding last year and we didn't have a clue what to get them. We knew, however, that they like to have a drink every now and again. We got them a couple of nice wine glasses from the Pier (£8) and then a little bottle of champagne (Enough for about a glass and a half each- £7)... We then wrapped a box up very nicely and filled it with shredded tissue and then put the glasses in the box with the Champagne. And, if I say so myself, it looked very lovely and was a very impressive gift for well under £20......

What I did for my brother and sister in law as they are hard to buy for and I wanted them to have something that they could keep from us,(I told them it would be ready when they returned from honeymoon) was I took photos of ther first dance and I bought the CD that they danced to and a large frame with space for 3 photos aswell as the cd I framed the CD and the cover also the 3 photos and it looks great, I added butterflies and diamontes like was on their wedding invites that I also made for them, I will give it to them at the weekend.

I will let you know what they thought of it

When we go to Florida we r getting them a Nintendo DS, thats what they wanted.

Hope you get sorted:thumbsup2

Great idea too :thumbsup2

Funnily enough last year I did a similar thing for my neighbours wedding but they were really close friends and I did alot of wedding stuff with her and made her cake too and I got to do that secret digging you do when you want to find things out ;).

So, DH is a bit of a photographer (he does all my website stuff and takes the photo's) and acted as a second photographer on the day taking all the shots that a photographer doesn't get and then afterwards we got a few of the pictures blown up and put in a frame and gave them the CD with all the pictures on.

I knew they were going to Las Vegas for their honeymoon so for months I searched for a canvas print of the 'strip' with their hotel on and eventually I found one that was perfect and massive (scroll down to see how big it is). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/d-sign-las-vegas-200x70-XXL-PICTURE-PANORAMA-USA-892_W0QQitemZ330249859868QQihZ014QQcategoryZ20147QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

We then had it stretched onto a frame, which cost a fortune!! but the utter amazement on their faces was, in the immortal words of Mastercard, priceless and they now have it in their living room on the wall so you see it when you enter the room.

But as I said earlier, these were really close friends so I have no plans to spend another £200 on a wedding present so I like your idea :thumbsup2
