Hi guys,

I posted a few weeks back that I had just got engaged at the Magic Kingdom. When we got back to England we decided to wait a few weeks before we started going over plans for the wedding and just enjoy being engaged. So, as we have a bank holiday on Monday (no work) we have decided to start going over things this weekend and hopefully make a few decisions!!!

Really looking forward to it but do find it all a bit overwhelming-there are so many decisions to make and things to choose between, especially when looking at getting married abroad.

Any tips on what we should be thinking about as a priority?

I'd have a good read over wedding PJs and Trs of other brides.

Like anything new it can be a bit overwhelming but you'll soon see that it's not too confusing a process. (Except the room block )

TBH we are less than a year out and other than deciding our locations and guests list we haven't had to commit anything to Disney yet.

So start with how many people you think will attend, and then look at the locations that could suit you. (www.mouseweddings.com is great for info)

When are you hoping to get married?

If you are getting married at disney - I would think about what part of Disney is most special to you - what are your favorite things to do? What are your favorite hotels? Then try to incorporate as much of it as you can into a game plan.

I've read so many PJ's etc so have quite a good idea of things I like...problem is I like everything!!

We want to get married sometime between Nov 2011 - April 2012..that is one of the things we need to decide first.

We were in Florida in March so did look at a few of the sites etc but picking one and then reception sites is proving more difficult than I thought it would be!!

Priority:
Date
Place for wedding
Place for reception
Photographer

It has been a few years ;) since I was planning but these were the things that seemed to get booked up and threw our original plans for a loop!!!

Our original date changed because of the availability of our receptions site...then the day we sent out our invitation (6 weeks before my wedding) the reception site burnt to the ground!!!:scared1: Everything worked out and they were able to help us in relocating to another site..little crowded but it worked!!

Good luck and enjoy!!!

Hmm, then I'd say some hardcore daydreaming is in order!

What I do is imagine my wedding. Do it in each location you can't decide between.

For me I could not imagine walking down any aisle other than the Pavilion, so that is how that got decided. (My fiance feels exactly the same which is lucky!)

Then for the reception we couldn't decide between Napa or Whitehall. So we then came down to practicality as they both have pros and cons that outweigh each other!

We preferred the outside space that the Whitehall offered, and the fact that its the same themeing as the WP so our floral would fit both nicely. Shame we miss out on the awesome view, but we'll have that from our BLT room. ;)

If you do Nov or Dec then the castle is lit up and all of the xmas decorations are out. It's a really pretty time of year. In Jan and Feb its value season so hotels are a little cheaper - but the weather can also be cold. March and April are spring break so the parks are much more crowded, but the weather is warmer. It's also the flower and garden festival at Epcot.

Start with that and see where you go.

Recomend getting the Passporter's Weddings and Honeymoon Guide to read if you don't have it already. Might help you with narrowing down some locations. You can download from the website.

Also check out this Disney Weddings Blog:

I would also recomend looking at the Budget thread and working out what you really want and can spend, that may help you in deciding on what you can do or what you need to be working towards.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday!

Everyone has great points! Just to say the beginning of december is value season. Also if you were planning a wishes wedding it looks like things such as djs are more expensive based on other brides experiences.

Thanks everyone-sure once we start planning all will become clear! Love reading about everyone else's weddings and getting inspiration. Once we have a few ideas and things are moving forward I'll start a planning journal x
