I know for awhile DF and I will just be playing around with ideas, and DF isn't even in planning mode yet, and won't be for awhile. He'll probably get it together when we actually set a date, and then he'll still let me decide almost everything.

He just wants to marry me, he doesn't really care where the wedding is, or any of the details, (maybe a little about the food, ;) ) but as far as flowers, and dresses and stuff, he said whatever I want, and I have every intention of holding him to that. :goodvibes

I've spent most of the morning of the Disney wedding website, and have found at least a dozen things I want. DF is going to love this when he gets home. :laughing:

Just so everyone gets exactly what DF's mindset is; he doesn't plan, he doesn't like girly things, and he doesn't like rushing things, we just got engaged last night. That being said, he knows I've been wanting a proposal for awhile, and that I've had my wedding "planned" since I was like five. So he gets that I'm already looking at dresses, and reading menus, etc. He doesn't mind that, he just leaves it to me.

Actually we were talking, and I said the first thing we should do is pick a location, and he said, "I thought you wanted it in Disney World." He thought that there was a single location, and not a whole bunch to choose from.

I also want the honeymoon to be in Disney, except I was thinking of doing a cruise as well, (Disney of course,) since DF really likes cruises, and we've never been on a cruise together, so I thought that would be nice.

DF and I have been together for almost two years, (but we were friends for awhile before that.) We haven't exactly had a smooth time. Between the two of us things have been great, we never actually fight, and only have very small arguments once in awhile.

Anyway, I started this thread; http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1196739 about a year ago, after I got upset one night about a comment someone made to me.

Also, if you read post #10 in that thread you'll see that we have problems with my family as well. And just my family not his. To be fair though most of my family's in-state, and have met him, and the opposite is true of his, there out-of-state, and mostly haven't met me, but I doubt that makes much difference.

I haven't told any of my family yet that we're engaged, (granted I haven't spoked to anyone yet,) but I think we'll keep it basically to ourselves for a little while, so we don't have to deal with drama right away.

I know as soon as certain people find out they're going to try and talk me out of it.

It's a very exciting time in the begining. Well all of it. Just take it slow. And don't overwhelm him :rotfl: But it's good for you both to give ideas on things in the wedding that are important to you. Happy Planning.

I found this website; http://www.disneybridal.com/index.html Look at all the gorgeous dresses! Some are just not my style. There's some I really like though.

There are six different collections, one for each princess. I like a lot of the Cinderella ones, I don't know if I'd want a skirt that big though, or a strapless dress, and most of the Cinderella ones are strapless.

I think my favorites (from the Cinderella collection,) are;

and

The only Sleeping Beauty one I really like is;

I lied, I like this one too;

I like most of the Snow White ones;

And Jasmine, who is my favorite princess, has a couple really nice ones;

Ariel's are pretty, but all seem too "slinky" for me, the only one I would consider is;

http://www.disneybridal.com/collections/ar/bridal/ar1.html

And Belle's are mostly a little too fancy for me. I do like these two though;

Great, when DF gets home I'm going to have him look at these. Except he'll just give me some line that I'd be pretty in any of them.

I think I want a dress that shows off my back. I have a great back. But I hate my legs. (That's part of a reason I don't want a slinky dress.) And I definatly want a white dress, not light gold or anything, traditional white. And shoes like Cinderella's glass slippers. Do they make those?

They do make shoes like Cinderella's glass slippers, but from what I've heard they are uncomfortable as all get-out. ;) They are vinyl, so they cut into your heels and are extremely hot. Yikes!

I believe DISer Cryssi wore them to her Disneyland wedding....maybe she can offer an opinion!

I can't stand uncomfortable shoes. And apparently my feet get blisters and cut open pretty easily. Still. . . I would love to have that Cinderella affect. I'm not sure how badly I want it though. Especially if I end up getting a dress with a bigger bottom.

Looking over the Disney website, (again,) and there's just so much that goes into weddings. I guess I'm lucky that I already know basically what I want.

I would love to have my ceremony at the Magic Kingdom, but I just don't think I, (let alone DF,) can justify, spending $25,000 just so we can have the ceremony there. Plus we'd have to have it before park-opening, right? And there's only room for fifty people. With our families alone, (assuming my family gets over the whole "I'm marrying a black guy thing," can't wait to let that one lose,) there's over forty people, and I know we'd want to invite a bunch of our friends.

I either want an extremely small ceremony and reception or an over-the-top huge one.

Epcot would be a much more reasonable location. Italy is beautiful, and that's one of the locations listed.

Or maybe we could have a rehersal dinner thing, and have an Illuminations dessert party for that, and have the ceremony and reception at the Grand Flordian, or I really like the looks of Sea Breeze Point too.

There's just soooo much to look at.

Here's what I know for sure; I want my colors to be blue and white. I want photo packages at MK and Epcot, (I'm big on pictures.)

Even after we make all the technical decisions, there's still all those personal decisions to make.

I have an issue with the Maid of Honor / bridesmaid selection. I started thinking about this after me and DF started seriously talking about marriage. I have one sister, (no brothers,) who a lot of people would think "should" be my Maid of Honor. But, I already know I really don't want her to be. We aren't that close, we fight a lot, and I know she doesn't like DF, (and she's only met him twice.)

Is it wrong that I don't want her to be my MOH? (Is that the correct abbreviation?) I was thinking of having my BF from high school be my MOH.

Could I just have a maid of honor, and DF have a best man, and not have anyone else in the wedding party?

I really want a traditional wedding, but I know I'm going to have issues with the picking of the party. But could I just have my BF, be my MOH, (and her daughter be the flower girl, (just cause she's so gosh darn cute,) and have DF have his DS or brother be a bestman?

That's another thing I don't have a lot of good girl friends, most of my friends are guys. So I could easily limit myself to just a MOH. But DF has (grown) DSs, and a couple of brothers, so it would be hard for him to pick just one without hurting feelings.

This is going to be our cake. I know that we just got engaged three days ago, and that nothing is planned yet, but this is the cake.

DF saw the picture of it today, and he said it was pretty. He also said anything I wanted. So this is the cake.

Any updates on your wedding plans? :bride:
No, DF had some pretty bad health problems, and up until a month or so ago he wasn't even working. He's doing much better now though, so I think we'll be getting back on track soon, we've both just been so busy recently since we both work a lot, and have completely different schedules.

Sorry to hear he was sick. Good luck with your planning! :goodvibes
