What songs did you choose?
I'm just looking for some ideas, becuase between my DF and I - we're bumping heads.

Thanks! :cool1:

As I had to give my DJ a song list I sent out a slip with each invite, daytime and evening and asked everyone to put down their 3 favourite party/Disco songs to help us compile a list. Some people were honest, some people were stupid with it and others didn't bother! I feel it helped a bit, I also looked in a top forty chart book, but you could find something similar on line!
Hope this helps!

Hi,

This is what we've been doing for the past week, picking our 1st song for the reception once we get back home, we don't agree on any my dh2b wants a the singer or the group to have been around for a long time not just afew years where as I like all the latest songs over here in the uk, but then the other day I heard a song I liked and suggested it to him and he loved it, but before I tell you what we're having, I spoke to him the other day and said aren't we having our song, he then said we don't have a song, we've been together for 13 years, I thought we did guess I was wrong I always thought our song was by Westlife - flying without wings (I love it), so were having

Aerosmith - Don't want to miss a thing.

We both love this song, and wanted something different, I wanted a disney one but we had to agree on it.

Hope you decide, and agree,

Love Wendy xxx :wizard: :bride: :lovestruc :lovestruc

We just had the First dance discussion and decided to have "Just the way you are" By Billy Joel. Seemed to fit and is easy to dance to. Mom also told me dad would like to dance to Daddy's little Girl. I was not happy at first, because I wanted something a little less traditional, but if thats want he wants I am not going to cause a fuss. I know its tough choosing the songs for the rest of the reception especially for me the music dummie. I am going to ask the DJ to play a mix of lots of different eras and to take requests from the guests

For our wedding (11 years ago), our first dance with Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" and our bridal party danced to "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". My dad and I danced to "If There Hadn't Been You" by Billy Dean. DH and his mom also danced to a Billy Dean song, but right now I can't remember what it was!

At our vow renewal at Disney in May, DH and I danced to "Beautiful" sung by Wayne Brady on the Jim Brickman CD. My DH and our daughter danced to Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses" and I danced with our sons to "Let Them Be Little" by Billy Dean. Our final dance with everyone at our reception was "Wonderful Tonight" from our original wedding and because we truly did have a "wonderful night".

When Mickey & Minnie arrived at our reception we had the violinist play the "Mickey Mouse March", and when we did the cake cutting, he played "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast.

That's our song too :goodvibes It is my favorite song EVER, I knew it would be my wedding song the first time I heard it when I was a teenager. Aerosmith is one of DF's favorite bands so it worked out well. Good choice :thumbsup2

thats what we are thinking of having. I love that song. While we are having dinner, our dj will be playing all of the 4 song books collections by rod stewart, I love rod, but df doesn't share my enthusasim...lol so it's looking like aerosmith. I never thought picking a song would be that hard.

Mary Poppins. wonderful tonight was my db and dsil wedding song.. 14yrs ago. Still a great song.

Michloo: My ds had that billy joel song for her wedding song 25yrs ago. Still love it. I love his Italian rest. song. trying to work that into our wedding somewhere.

"Just the way you are" is our wedding song too... good pick!!!

The song for our wedding party was "What A Wonderful World." I was at a wedding a couple weeks ago where the wedding party song was "Let's Get the Party Started." I have to say, that was a fun wedding.

Our other songs were "As Time Goes By" for me and DH, "Unforgettable" for me and dad, and I forget the name of the song DH and his mom danced to. The bridal party came into the reception to the Medal Ceremony music from Star Wars. Our Best Man even roared like Chewie at the appropriate spot. It was pretty funny.

Good luck choosing!

Our first dance will be to a local Florida artist's song, "Freezing in Florida"

His website is www.marcwithac.com, and both DF and I love his music. It's sort of aucostic rockish, like They Might Be Giants, but a little different. I think it's great, and really unusual stuff.

For our first dance we're using "Open Arms" by Journey
For the bridal party dance we're using "The Way You Look Tonight" the Sinatra version
For the enterance we're using the Steelers enterance music
For the father/daughter dance we're using "Try to Remember" from The Fantastiks (not really a wedding song, but my dad used to sing it to me every night before I went to bed.)
For the mother/son dance they're using "Simple Man" by Leonard Skynard

Hope that helps generate some ideas!! :) And have an awesome day!!! We're almost date twins!!!!! :wave2: I'm not getting married in Disney though.

this is what we've chosen:

Our Song: Here and Now - Luther Vandross
Wedding Party Song: This is the Time to Remember - Billy Joel
Father/Daughter Song: In My Daughter's Eyes - Martina McBride
Mother/Son Song: Through the Years - Kenny Rogers

the one we couldn't agree on was the wedding party song, but i love billy joel and i came up with that one and the DF was OK with it so Yey!

Thanks for your help guys!

I hope you have a great day phisigprincess! Are you honeymooning in Disney?

Fun thread!!

We are doing:
Bride and Groom Entrance: Under the Sea (From The Little Mermaid - just a fun song with a tropical beat!)
Our first song: Beautiful by Wayne Brady
Father/Daughter Dance: either "I hope you Dance" (Luanne Womack) or "The Way you Look Tonight" (Frank Sinatra)
Mother/Son Dance: "Close to You" (The Carpenters)
Bride/Grandfather (he is so special to me!): Through the Years (Kenny Rogers)
Garter toss: DF is still deciding!
Bouquet Toss: "This one's for the girls" (Martina McBride)
Cake Cutting: "How Sweet it is to be loved by you" (James Taylor)
Final Dance: "Save the last dance for me" Its the original song but its a new remix, has a tropical regee feel to it. I love it!!

Our first dance was to the song Always. Our wedding party dance was Lady by Kenny Rogers. My friend did a neat one for her wedding party dance it was That's what Friend's are for. Somes it up nice. Since most of the wedding party is usually family or really good friends. :grouphug:

My fiance and I are talking about using the song 525, 600 minutes/seasons of love from rent for our bridal party song. We will be engaged for over a year at the time of our wedding so we thought it would be a really fun song!

Not my own wedding, but I suggested a song and my friend used it. They used, "You've Got a Friend" by James Taylor. Another thought is, "Whenever I Call You Friend" by Loggins and Messina.
