Hi there,

Trying to find a nice & relatively quiet place to eat for dinner on the night of our wedding. Something for just DF & I that is semi fancy with a relaxing & romantic feel.

This will be our day:

-Waking up VERY early for MK photo shoot
-Will likely grab something quick for breakfast
-Ceremony at noon w/cake
-Luncheon at GF Garden View Lounge for a Grand Tea (tea sandwiches, pastries, the whole experience) likely around 2:30 or 3pm
-Spend the day with family/friends likely at Epcot
-Staying at Wilderness Lodge that night

I'm assuming we'll be starving by then and will want to full meal (bread basket, appetizer, salad, meal, possibly dessert if they offer it for free!!)

I was thinking about staying local and dining at Artist's Point. What do you all think of that? Is the food good? Is it relatively quiet? Are the chairs comfy?

We might be too tired to start venturing out too far and we are staying at WL that night.

DF eats just about everything and I am sorta picky. I love roasted/baked chicken dishes, pork dishes (that are relatively plain), scallops, cheese (but not cheese sauce), don't eat pasta or much red meat.

We are NOT interested in Victoria & Alberts (not our scene or our food preferences!!)

Anyone have any experience with Artist's Point? Have photos of the restaurant or meals you've ordered?

TIA! :goodvibes

Yes! Artist Point is fabulous - it was DH's fave meal of our 2-week honeymoon - and going there on your wedding night when you're staying at WL sounds just perfect!

It is a classy restaurant with excellent food that doesn't feel stuffy or formal, and they give newlyweds, honeymooners, etc. free berry cobbler for dessert. No pix of our food - we ate it too fast.... :rotfl:

I whole-heartedly agree. The Artist Pointe is wonderful. The food is excellent, and we had a lovely, very knowledgeable server.
We also got there early and had a drink in the bar, which is so cozy.

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

& what did you all order? I know I'm planning way far ahead, but I'm looking at:
-portobello mushroom soup
-artisan cheese plate shared with DF
-maybe salad (I'm expecting to be pretty hungry by now!)
-roasted chicken plate
-wine

I'm also trying to figure out timing.

We are trying to be able to do a MK photo shoot, maybe ceremony/cake at 10:30am and Garden View lounge lunch reception early afternoon. We want to spend our wedding day at Epcot & I definately want to see Illuminations.

Will we have time to spend some time at Epcot (at least for a few rides), leave & eat a relaxing non-rushed dinner at WL & then head back to Epcot for Illuminations?

What time would you make your ADR?

Artist Point is wonderful. The food is fantastic! It's definitely at the top of my Disney Dining list. Their cedar plank salmon is really good.....and so their buffalo (I know, weird)

I thought the mushroom soup was wonderful! We split the salmon, which was excellent. I don't think you can have a bad meal there....

As for the schedule, I'm worried you're going to be exhausted. Getting up in time to get ready for the MK shoot is EARLY, and if you don't schedule in time for a break, you could be nodding off during Illuminations. Also, even if you have a car, Epcot and WL are not that close, so that's a lot of driving back and forth. I would prolly do lunch>nap>early dinner>MK for rides and fireworks (take the boat over from WL). Or maybe lunch>nap>early dinner>Epcot for rides and Illuminations.... Or I'd do my MK shoot on another day!

I haven't had buffalo, but I was reading the other day that it tastes like non-greasy beef - maybe you'd like it better than beef, Beautybelle43! :thumbsup2

Beautybelle43, Artist Point is lovely. But, honestly, my best meals have been at Vicky & Al's (I know you didn't want to hear that but I would be remiss if I didn't mention it). We've also had wonderful meals at Citricos, Narcoossee's, the Flying Fish, Jiko, Boma, the California Grill, the Brown Derby, and a few other restaurants. I would look over the menus at AllEars and see which ones strike your fancy, and then I'd book an ADR for that restaurant.

Good luck with your decision. It's always hard picking a restaurant in WDW since so many (many!) of them are wonderful. ;)

Victoria & Alberts is definitely the best meal on property, and has the most romantic environment. Worth a splurge on your wedding night, if you're up for it...

But Artist Pointe is a close second in my books! If you want to catch Illuminations, I'd book an earlier dinner. Say 6-ish?

Artist Point is very, very nice - you'll love it! I've eaten there 3 times and we had our rehearsal dinner there (married at and stayed at WL). The mushroom soup is fantastic! The chocolate cake is to die for! Our server gave us or first bit of magic for our wedding at Artist Point - a magical memories certificate. Let them know it's your wedding night/honeymoon when you make the reservation so you can get a table off in a quiet area. It's not a loud place, in my experience, but you'll want to be more by yourselves.

I do have pictures, but not on this computer. If I can get to them I'll post them.

Our wedding night we were tired and wanted to be alone so we ate in our room. It was romantic and fun and let us just relax with each other.

Hmm....Maybe we should just eat in our room-the more I think about it, the less I want to rush around and I do want to see Illuminations.

If we did room service, could we order straight from the Artist's Point menu?
& get the whole shebang-bread basket, soup, salad or cheese plate, meal, dessert?? Does it end up to be ridicuously more expensive than eating at the restaurant?

I love the food at Artist's Point, but I have to admit my experience was completely ruined by our horrible waiter.

We did, however, get free dessert out of it, and the food was fantastic! Good luck.
