We are eloping and planning a romantic dinner the night of the wedding. We are leaning towards the California Grill, but neither of us have ever been. My husband to be is not an adventerous eater, but if you could recommend a romantic place I would appreciate it.

. . . Shula's
. . . Il Mulino
Both are great comfort food and not too "adventurous".

California Grill is nice, but a bit on the loud side. Artist Point is really good and we found it on the quieter side. I am not an adventurous eater and Artist was very accomadating. We tried Citricos for the first time on our last trip and really enjoyed it. We were able to view the fireworks from our table.

Cali Grill is NOT romantic....very loud....lots of obnoxious children.......IMO. Citricos is a much more romantic restaurant. The food and service are incredible and it is a much, much, much quieter restaurant. ::MinnieMo

Victoria and Albert's hands down. If you are lucky enough to score a chef table reservation, that is the way to go (though it will cost you $500 for 2 with tax/tip.)

The only restaurants I would consider for romantic:

Victoria & Alberts (need to be adventurous)
Il Mulino
Shulas
bluezoo (if you don't love fish, skip this one)

Anyplace else on Disney property is going to be family dining atmosphere which I would not consider romantic.

Ca Grill, Narcoosees, Brown Derby and Flying Fish would be at the bottom of my list as far as dining plan signature dining. You could possibly get lucky and have a quiet experience at some of the others but your chances are better with those not on the dining plan.

Room Service

We eloped to Disney!!!!!!! :cool1:

We had our wedding dinner at the Calli Grill, there are a bunch of photos in my trip report in my siggie. It was the perfect night, and I wouldn't change it for anything!

First things first... CONGRATULATIONS !
Next - if you are staying "on-property", make sure you leave them know when you "Check-in" (or if you make your reservations over the phone or on-line, tell them !)
Now... for dinner:
No doubt that the "top-of-the-line" (IMHO) is "Victoria & Albert's", but it can be pricey, and sometimes hard to get a reservation (again - if you choose "V & A" and you call for a reservation - TELL THEM !).
The recommendation of "In-Room Dining" also is a very romantic option, depending on where you are staying.
After that - it is what it is...! after all, you are at Walt Disney World ! I would suggest, in this order (again, IMHO !)
3) Yachtman's Steakhouse [Yacht & Beach Club Resorts]
4) Citrico's [The Grand Floridian Resort]
5) Artist Point [The Wilderness Lodge Resort]
6) Shula's [The Dolphin Resort]
7) Narcoossee's [The Grand Floridian Resort]
8) Paradiso 37 [Pleasure Island/Downtown Disney]
9) Flying Fish Cafe' [The Boardwalk Resort]
10) Le Cellier [EPCOT - Canada]
11) Bistro de Paris [EPCOT - France]
12) The Brown Derby [Disney Studios]

Cali Grill is a nice enough place, and the food is decent. But as PPs have noted: it's loud and crowded- definitely falls outside of my definition of romantic. Some of the other PPs have mentioned some wonderful alternatives. All but V&As would fall into a similar price bracket, tend to be quieter (especially if you book a later time for your ADR), and have a more 'grown up' atmosphere.

Our favourite place for an anniversary dinner is always Citricos. And for our DDs wedding dinner we selected the private dining room there. The food and service have always been wonderful.

The most romantic meal we've had at WDW recently was at Le Bistro. That was two days before they started accepting DDP, so that may have changed. We've had great food elsewhere, but none were as romantic. We still haven't tried V&A though. I'm sure it's the best choice.

A lot of people seem to say Cali Grill is loud, we went December 22 (right before Christmas, was very crowded in the parks) at 830 and there was hardly a child in the restaurant. It was very quiet and romantic (we were celebrating our anniversary). If you can make a little later reservation I think it can be very romantic. I think if you are going for a wedding, you should splurge and do V&A- its expensive but its a once in a lifetime experience!

Although I haven't eaten there, it seems like the most romantic and best restaurant on site is Victoria & Albert's. It does seem extremely pricey though.

The next step down would be Citricos and Bistro de Paris. Bistro de Paris may be more romantic, but Citricos is really a first class restaurant in an elegant setting. I don't think you could go wrong with any of these.

Like a PP I may be biased but we had our wedding dinner at the Chef's Table at V&As and it was AMAZING:love:! I actually think the main dining room may be more romantic than the Chef's Table but we had a wonderful meal and even my not adventurous in-laws seemed to enjoy it:rolleyes1. (they were not our target audience we decided to go where we wanted and make ourselves happy :scared1:)

There is a review in my TR in my siggy... I do not recall what page though

We may wind up changing our minds and trying something new, but right now we have a dinner reservation at Jiko on our wedding night. The food is great, and it has a romantic atmosphere as well. :)

We were married in Disney and during our honeymoon we had a sweetheart dinner ( I don't know if they still offer those) at Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. They had really good food and we had a nice view of the resort from our table. I thought it was very romantic. :lovestruc

If you really want to do California Grill (one of our absolute favorites!), but are concerned about what some people have posted about noise -- ask to wait for a seat in the Wine Room. That's where we've sat both times (the first we were lucky enough to be seated there, the next we requested it and waited until a table opened up). It's quite a bit quieter, it's a small little room with maybe 4-6 tables in it, it just feels a lot more private and romantic.

I also 100% agree though, if you can swing the price on Victoria & Albert's, you should do it! What an amazing dining experience.

As most others have said, Cali Grill is not romantic. There may be times it is quieter than others, but chances are very high it will just be noisy and frenetic. If you want romance go somewhere else.

Other oniste locations that we would deem romatic:

Victoria & Alberts (if you have the money to spare)
Bistro de Paris
Artist Point
Jiko
