SRUAlmn- just wanted to let you know i spoke with rev. jack he said additional copies of the marriage license is $2.50 each and i can just put the money in with the marriage license the day of the wedding and he will take care of it. so depending on who is performing your ceremony you would do the same. i havn't heard anything yet on how long it takes for the whole process of getting the marriage license through Brevard but if i find anything out i will let you know :goodvibes

I don't think I understand... Do we get our license from Brevard ahead of time, and then we give Jack a copy? What is the money for?

Thanks!!

Karen - you do get your license ahead of time from Brevard County. Then, if you want Rev. Day to file it for you in Orange Co (and $2.50 if you want an extra copy of your wedding certificate). A week or so later, you will be sent your marriage certificate from the state of Florida...

As for the marriage license, they are good for exactly 60 days.

Thanks! I guess I was confused because you said you get your license and then he files for you to get your license. That means he files the finalization that you are married, right? Why would you need an extra copy? For things like social security or driver's license name changes?

Yes, Rev. Jack files the finalization that you are married with the signatures and stuff. I am sorry. I didn't explain it all that well did I :rotfl: yes you get the license ahead of time from Brevard County(or wherever it may be that you are getting it from) and Rev. Jack will file it after the wedding, and if you want additional copies it is $2.50 each, which you can give him the money for the day of the wedding. I heard it's good to have additional copies, Rev. Jack said he reccomends about 2 additional. When you get the marriage license sent back to you, after being filed, the copies will be with it. I heard ppl on the boards mention that they were in situations where they needed to give the original marriage license because a copy just wasn't accepted, so I figured it was a good idea to have a few originals just in case somethings happens. :) I am thinking it is for social security and driver's license, etc. i just figured it was easier to get a few originals at the same time then to go through the hassle later if i needed to. :)

Thank you! That makes perfect sense. It wasn't your fault at all, I'm just an idiot on Fridays because teaching all week drains every ounce of brain cells that I have :rotfl:

So what if you aren't from Florida and you get this license from Brevard that only lasts 60 days - what happens after the 60 days and should I get a license from Louisiana which is where i live? help

In order to get married in FL you have to have a FL marriage license. Unless you're getting married in Louisiana, it won't do you any good. You have to time it well so that you have enough time to get the paperwork done but also close enough to the day you're getting married so that your license doesn't expire. Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Is this just for US citizens??? I am looking on the site and can't find anything that will tell me this. Anyone from outside the US tried to find out any more infomation??

I am just about to post mine off and it is going to cost $195 - which I think is expensive.

I'm not sure if there's a citizenship requirement or not, but there is a contact phone number - I would call that person and ask. You've got plenty of time to do it either way, so i'd wait and find out if you can save $100.

i read their new website and it says you can pre apply online, but you still have to physcially go into the office to file!

:(

Am i wrong?!

I was confused by that as well when I read it, but I received our marriage license in the mail last week!!

Good luck!

I faxed in my request for an application yesterday (Monday, Nov. 27). They received it and said it shouldn't be a problem to get everything settled by our wedding on Jan. 15, 2007. I hope this helps for other people who are wondering how far in advance to do it. Don't do it too far in advance or you will have to start the process from the beginning (including paying the fee again!)

As far as I understand you send them a request for an application (via fax or mail) containing information such as the bride & groom's full names and SSNs, and they send you back the application, which you then have to get notarized and mail back. I am not sure if you need to show your birth certificate to the notary. As I learn more about this process I will share with the rest of you!

Wejust got ours through A Wedding For You.

It cost us 200$ (but we felt that not having the stress of going to the court house wasawsome.)

We got the documents to us by fedex -signed them with a notary and sent them back to A Wedding For You. They have now been to the court house with them and had them fixed and my planner at Disney has now got the marriage licence.

When the wedding is done Rev Jack will send them to a Wedding for you andthey will have them stamped for me(I need an extra stamp on them in order for the wedding to be legal also in Norway) and then she'll send them to me again :)

FYI girls! Brevard County issued my wedding license and I paid a total of 93.50 to receive it by mail! I get married in 3 1/2 weeks!!! :bride:

Just wanted to come back and double check that getting the license through Brevard County was, in fact, legit. I just read through my pack from Rev Day and it does say that a wedding license purchased in ANY Florida county is valid in ANY Florida county :goodvibes

We are currently 90 days out. Should we wait a few weeks before we begin this process?

we got our forms notarized at one of our local banks here and then mailed the paperwork back. they then sent it back to us with a notary seal of their own and now we have to take it back down there with us so that reverend miller can sign it to make it legit! phew! :goodvibes
