Hi,

I'm wearing a strapless Alfred Angelo wedding dress with red in it. I want a princess, sparkling necklace. What shape would you guys recommend (choker, loose necklace, one with a dangly bit down the cleavage )?

What sort of necklaces / jewellery have you got to go with a strapless dress? Did you have your bridesmaids matching?

I didn't wear strapless but I wore the journey diamond necklace that DH bought me for Christmas right before our wedding. It was dainty and I loved it because it didn't take away from the dress.

Well I am not wearing a necklace because DF is mean and would not buy me the 24K necklace I tried on in Tiffany's for a wedding present... soooooo now that I tried it on nothing can compare (I knew it was a bad mistake for us to go in there lol)

Anyways that necklace is a choker style which I thought would look bad on me but it looked wonderful. I definitely recommend trying a necklace on if you have the opportunity. The necklace I thought I would love (The 5k one that DF said he would buy) I hated and the one I disliked is the one I ended up LOVING but alas, my precious has to stay at the store

Does your strapless dress have a sweetheart neckline or a straight one? If it's the former, keep in mind the rule of thumb that a Y-shaped (dangly bit down the front) necklace is going to act like an arrow pointing the eye directly to your cleavage. This may not be a bad thing....

Another thing to consider is your face shape. I have a really round face, and when I wear chokers they make it look like an orange on a toothpick! You may find there's a necklace length that's more flattering to you than others....

I have a super round face too so I was surprised to find that necklace was very flattering. I think it really just depends.

My dress is straight across. I have a long face so i guess a long dangling necklace may make me look funny As much as i would like a Tiffany's necklace it would proberly cost more than my wedding. I can dream though !!

If I were wearing a strapless gown I would go with a loose necklace, something sparkley (sp?). If your dress has a lot of detail on the top I wouldn't go with something too blingy but if its plain on top I say go with something big and chunky..lol.

My dress is strapless and I was thinking about big, dangly, blingy earrings although something chunky at a princess length or a little longer would be nice. How are you wearing your hair? That might enter into the decision making too.

i wore a strapless and i have a rund face but i wore a simple pendant necklace and some square earing. i didnt want to take away from the dress but i did want some "bling" hehe

The pleading eyes didn't work... When I do it then he says all this responsible stuff about our future and all that. I know I had him really close though lol... I was like "If you loved me" but then I felt guilty for trying to guilt him. Oh well... necklace less I will be.

Hi!! I wore a strapless sweetheart neckline dress and didn't wear a necklace..my dress had a lot of detail so did my viel and tiara....I stressed so much trying to find the perfect necklace and I thought it would be best not to wear one along with the girls on the boards......I just went and bought a pair of earings and they were perfect and I was surprised how well they photographed!!!! Sometimes less is more

I'm happy I went without a necklace.

I'm having my hair all up with a tiara. Looking at some of the pictures quite a few of your went without necklaces and it doesn't looking like you where 'missing anything'. If i can't find something suitable i may not wear one.

The earings were 40 dollars from lord and taylor, I never expected them to photograph well..seriously if you can't find anything it will be ok. Don't stress trying to find something lol...I stressed so much over nothing!

I haven't tried mine on with my dress, but I too wanted something sparkly but not too expensive. I found this set from Avon -

...not sure if I'll be wearing all three, but the design is just like the detail work on my dress. The necklace pendant is removable, and the chain is adjustable, so I think I can play around with that to make it look "right" with the neckline of my dress. We'll see!

I like the necklace. I didn't think to look at Avon for jewellery. I might be able to get something for the bridesmaids too there. Thanks

DH fell in love with a necklace he had me try on at swarovski and insisted on buying it for me for our vow renewal. It is absolutely exquisite, though nothing like I'd have looked for. I am stunned by how pretty it looks on, though I am hoping it doesn't compete with the beadwork on my bodice.
