hi! It's time for me to start working on my wedding invites. I only have to make 10 of them (maybe not even 10). I figure since I only have to make 10 I can be real creative with it. My colors are white & black with touches of silver and red. Most of my decor and diy stuff is white, black and silver. I bought cards from cardsandpockets.com the other day. I recieved them a few days ago...and since I've been stressing on how to start. So I thought I'd start here! Does anyone have pics of their DIY invites or examples of verses?

Thanks!!!

My colors are the excate same. I was planning on making a mock up invitation today so as soon as I make mine I will post a picture. I am staying away from red in the invitation, tho.

Few questions, what is the theme of your wedding? Cinderella? Mickey mouse? non-disney? Just helps to know in the brainstorming process

I used black, white and silver for my DIY invitations. Here's how they turned out:

Thanks so much! I don't plan on using red in my invites either. I ordered pocketfolders from cards & pockets in black. I went to Michaels the other day and picked up a bunch of silver and white and black paper. Any ideas would be to great....I just keep starring at the blank cardsock :rotfl:

Your invitations are beautiful. I remember seeing them somewhere in the past. I love the castle graphic and font you used. Can you let me know where you got it? Also did you just get the paper from them and print them yourself or did they do everything. I love the wording on your response cards.

Thanks for all you help.

Linda- Thanks for the compliment. The castle clip are I got from the DIS Boards. If I have it I can send it to you but check out the Arts & Graphic forum, after i created mine they had even better ones in different colors. I just bought the green envelopej/folder and the sliver mat and white cardstock for the invitation part only pre cut. The inserts I just bought cardstock from staples and invested in a good papercutter and printed them myself.

I LOVE your invitations! Could you send me any of the graphics?? I really like the one with the castle that you used as a sticker on the envelope. Thanks!!!

I would love to get the graphic if you can post it.

We are planning on a ceremony in Epcot, a reception at the Boardwalk and an IllumiNations desert party. Not sure if I want to use the castle graphic as we are not doing a castle - Cinderella wedding - but I would love this incase we need to make some changes.

I have a graphic of a hand drawn type Mickey and Minnie in black and white with red accents that I am planning on using but seeing your invites might make me change my mind. I am hoping to use red as our color so I am sure I could add that in somehow.

Linda,

So I got my inspiration from Chantelle. I loved her invitations so much I kinda made hers only without the high graphics since I am a bit behind on the computer knowledge as most. But I made a mock up of what I am thinking, and am posting my sample for you. It is not a formal wedding at all, and also I am no where near professional. But I kinda like them.

I made our invites with only a few Disney touches in the logo and on the back of the reply cards:

Thank you EVERYONE for the ideas!! I think between all of you I'm going to be able to come up with something. You all have talent!

I'm going to try this weekend to make a test invite. I'll post it when I'm finished. Wish me luck!

I just wanted to say that you guys have some beautiful invites!!! I was wondering for those of you that did your own, was it cheaper than ordering or doing it yourself?

Well, the invitation I posted is the fourth one I made on the road to choosing what I want.

I bought white and black paper and the shiny paper I was using else where so I was trying to carry it over.

I think I finally made my invitation decision on the final one and that isn't it I will have to post it when I get one together.

All in all I would say cheaper to make your own since you can change what you want and you don't have someone charging for changes made. The cardsandpockets.com is a great way to go to get envelopes and pockets for cards still pretty price reasonable while you are still making your own.

I am not sure it was much cheaper to do my own invitations by the time I bought all the different papers and envelopes. It just seemed a lot of the invitations I was finding had much larger minimums then I needed plus I never found quite exactly what I wanted. It was easier to do my own as I was only making 20 and that way I got exactly what I wanted. Plus I am a graphic designer, so I kind of felt like it would be wrong if I didn't design my own invitations!

I also designed a second invitation for our home wedding. My fiance actually drilled each invitation to get the rivets on. It was quite amusing and this design worked well because it was like a little booklet and I included multiple pages with the map and other information. Here's how they turned out:

They look great Chantelle! I wish I had your talent!

I am not sure how much mine are going to cost...let alone the exact design of them....but I too feel that cost really isn't a concern b/c 1. I only have 10 invites to make and 2. I'm a crafty person so I feel like I should/want to make my own invites.

These invitations were actually fairly inexpensive. I had to do around 75 of these ones so I tried to design something a little simpler then my disney world wedding invites. I also designed them to fit a standard envelope to save on postage costs.

The black card stock was $20 for the package, and the white paper and the envelopes were bought at Staples for around $30. Trivets were only like $2 per box of 30 at Walmart.

Altogether I don't think they were much more then $60 to make, not including postage.
