Wedding help

My husband and his mom danced to "If I Could" by Regina Belle. I think Celine Dion also has a version of this. It really is a beautiful song about a mom letting go of her child. My father was not able to attend my wedding so I danced with my grandfather to "I am your Child" by Barry Manilow and dedicated it to my dad.

My sister and nephew danced to You've Got a Friend by James Taylor. She used to sing it to him when he was little.

DH and his mom danced to "Baby Mine" from Dumbo - not a dry eye in the house after that one! My dad and I danced to "Through the Years"

Jenny:)

I'm getting married next year, and my DF and his mother are dancing to baby mine :). My dad and I are dancing to "I loved her first" :goodvibes

DS and I danced to "The Man You've Become" at his wedding last year.

Turn Around.
It's an older song.
The first line is "where are you going, my little one, little one".

I got married last May and my husband and his mom danced to perfect fan by backstreet boys.

I like Celine Dion's version of "Beautiful Boy". I really prefer the original by Lennon, but Celine's version has "Mommy's here..." instead of "Daddy's here..." Also, I absolutely LOVE Celine's "Miracle". Beautiful, beautiful song.

She did a project with Anne Geddes. My mother bought the CD/DVD for me for Christmas a couple years ago. That entire CD will have you choked up!! ;)

Good luck choosing and congratulations to your son!!

When my older son got married last May, he wouldn't tell me ahead of time which song he chose for our Mom/Son dance. He chose my husband & my song: Stevie Wonder's You Are the Sunshine of my Life. It was a total surprise. So it had meaning & I really appreciated it.

My son and I danced to Rascal Flatt's My Wish. It was a great choice. The sentiment is genuinely heartfelt without being hokey or nauseating.

If you aren't looking for a sappy song, I'd suggest Natalie Merchant's Kind and Generous. It is slow enough to "slow dance" to, but jazzy enough to pick up spirits.

Here are the lyrics (it is better if it comes from son to Mom, but still works the other way):

Title: Kind and Generous
Artist: Natalie Merchant
Album: Ophelia

La la la la...
You've been so kind and generous
I don't know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
For your selflessness my admiration
For everything you've done you know I'm bound
I'm bound to thank you for it

La la la la...
You've been so kind and generous
I don't know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
And I never could have come this far without you
For everything you've done, you know I'm bound
I'm bound to thank you for it

La-la-la-la...
Oh, I want to thank you for so many gifts you gave
The love, the tenderness, I wanna thank you
I want to thank you for your generosity, the love
And the honesty that you gave me
I want to thank you show my gratitude
My love, and my respect for you, I want to thank you
Oh, I want to thank you, thank you; thank you, thank you
I want to thank you, thank you; thank you, thank you

I'm also looking for a song for my first born's wedding in Jan '09 -

I hadnt considered some of the songs suggested here - Beautiful Boy was in the movie Mr. Holland's Opus, as our son is hard of hearing - this song will have lots of memories!!!

Thanks!

My son and I danced to "Miracle". My favorite line in that song is "You are my life's one miracle"...it just touched me so much. He is my first child and I remembered thinking when he was a little guy that he was the first miracle I had ever had in my life. So, it fit for me.

I already think about this stuff for the other kids and they are hopefully nowhere close to being ready for marriage!

Kelly

My mom picked

"All my life, I've loved you more" or something like that by Bette Midler.

It's a nice song
