Hello fellow freaps!
As a newly engaged bride to be ( been engaged for 2 days now! )
I'm wondering what wedding freebies there are to be had.. I've heard talk of some freebies when you sign up for registries at different places, and I'd love to know if anyone can tell me who they are and what they offer!!

Thanks in advance!!! :cool1:

Congats to you.
If you post this on the freebie thread I bet they can help you.

The only freebies that I ran across were things like binder wedding planners when starting a registry. A lot of places will offer an incentive to put a certain product on your registry, like a certain package of pots and pans and if a guest buys them, you get a bonus gift.

Otherwise, I found very little wedding freebies. Speaking as someone who just got married yesterday, my best advice is when meeting with vendors, say you are planning a family reunion or a large party. At the word wedding, the price seems to increase 25%. For example, we did a cupcake tower and I wanted simple cupcakes with twirled frosting, like those that you find at kids birthday parties. The moment I mentioned it was for a wedding, I was quoted $2-$3 a cupcake. When I ordered them for my "family reunion", amazingly the price was a little over $.50 a piece.

I would suggest going to wedding fairs in your area. They can be pretty cheesy, but if you sign up for info from each booth, you may win door prizes. I won 2 door prizes at each fair I attended before my wedding. Some of the prizes were things like a gift certificate for an extra hour of the limo (which we didn't use). And some were more useful like an extra 10 sides in the photo album and a huge basket of wedding day emergency extras (toothpaste, sewing kit, stain remover and the like).

Congrats on your engagement!

Congrats on your engagement. No suggestions on wedding "freebies" since I really didn't find many when I got married.

Not all bakeries do this!! I sell cakes on the side, and only the "shady" people will change the price based on the occasion. It gives the rest of us honest bakers a bad rap! I hate people like that!

Squishypig has great advice! (about not mentioning the wedding word right off the bat - why not just call it a party?)

When I was planning my wedding, we chose a Country Club for the meal. The planner showed me the "Wedding" menu with prices. I had been there several times during the week for "Business Events" and had loved some meals which I did not see on the pricing sheet. When I asked about a certain meal, they brought out the "Business Mans" meals -- it was about 60% cheaper and included french onion soup and a dessert!

Best wishes for a blessed event!!

If you do a bridal registry at Macys, and you have a Macy’s card, you can link them with Star Rewards. You will receive a "gift card" after your wedding for I think 5% of the total dollar amount of the gifts purchased... I am sure this makes no sense, but the nice people that help you register do a great job explaining it, and we got a really GREAT Macys gift card! Oh, and you can also make it so a percentage goes to a charity of your choice!
